Question - GameCube Progressive Scan games on Wii

Does anyone know if the old GameCube games that are "Progressive Scan capable" (if you have the right cable) work automatically in Progressive Scan mode when running on a Wii with the appropriate setup? Or do you have to do something on the Wii to put it into Progressive Scan mode for GameCube games (I think you had to hold down one of the controller buttons on the GameCube to put it into PS mode, but I forget)?

Just curious, thanks,

Thanks for the tip! There's also a good explanation over on the Nintendo.com forums too:

In short, if you have your Wii setup for 480p display mode the GC game will automatically prompt for Progressive Scan mode when it starts up. No need to push any controller buttons, nice!

I fired up Metroid Prime (original) first, and it looked horrible. I think there's something wrong with the scan rate of the game itself; it looked like it was only getting every other line. But when I chose to not use Progressive Scan mode it worked fine (same resolution as on GC). Boy, was I disappointed.

Fortunately, all the other ProgScan-enabled games I tried after that (F-Zero GX, Robotech Battlecry, etc.) have worked great so far; whew! The graphics don't look "oh wow, big difference!" that much better, but they are an improvement.

Thanks again,
- CHRISBO
