This was really a bolt from the blue. He was supposedly doing very well with his chemotherapy treatments. It's extra sad because the man was so excited and positive about his recovery, and how he couldn't wait to get back out there and play songs for people. He was one hell of a musician and performer, and every interview I've ever seen/read showed he was a class act.
All things said, Dio's career definitely went out on a high note with "The Devil You Know" by Heaven & Hell. RIP, Ronnie. You can kill the wizard, but you can't kill his spirit.
