Gonna be 1850 max for the last one in, IMO. 1840 or even lower wouldn't surprise me. Hard to see 35-40 in NA with 1850+.....

Keep in mind that there are still 2 large events (Regionals k=40, Nationals k=44), and 4 weekends of smaller events (BR k=8). Also, check the massive change between after Cities and after States. 1806 vs. 1739 on the low end. I think that you'll only feel safe after 1900. Anything below that, and you're probably on the chopping block. Those 8 tourneys at k=8 could be huge, I'm not sure how many ppl will have the chance to attend 8 BRs over those 4 weeks.
Nah, I think you're nuts. 30th was 1918 last year. There's no way that's even close this time.
Drew: It'd be stupid to sit at any point. Anyone at 1900 could go 6-3 and GAIN points, or at the very least break even at Nats. If you don't think you can go 6-3 after getting a 1900 rating, you shouldn't even be playing in Worlds. I don't care how much of a crapshoot Nats is.

I think you will find it very unlikely 6-3 at 1900 would gain any points unless all 3 losses were to higher ranked players. If at best you were to play against opponents of 1800 or higher, the loss to 1 opponent 100 points lower will cost you at least 20-25 points.
Of course. But losing a lot of points is not going to happen at 6-3, if losing any at all.
Nats being a crapshoot or not, there's really no reason this year "not" to play in Nationals, unless you just reaalllllly want an invite.
I know a lot of you think it's a clever idea to drop, but the circumstances that led to my dropping from nationals were a lot more situational:
A) I received a free trip to nationals via regionals, so I felt like I could afford dropping from a tournament I didn't technically pay to go to.
B) I was guaranteed a free trip to Hawaii if I dropped. Trips to Hawaii are pretty expensive these days...
If the one circumstance of A) didn't occur, and if both circumstances of B) didn't occur, then I would have played the event in full.
In the end, you should do what you want, but this year, your only shot at a paid trip to worlds is nationals...So you might as well take that shot!

That is soo ridiculously high. Can somebody explain how that is possible?

Scizor: I plan to go to 8 BRs and if I do go X-0/ X-1 in all of them (my ranking is 1777.86) then I still think I have a shot. If I gain 15 points from each BR i should gain around 100-120 points. 1780.00 (rounded) + 100 = 1870 (the low end of the top 33). I really don't care if I get the invite or not because I don't think I am going to Worlds.
