Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rate my HG Suicune (recommendations wanted)

z-man, I am OK with the movesets you all have given, but again, you miss my point. You can offer recommandations all you want, which is what I wanted, but, in the end, it is up to me (and me alone to decide) what moveset I am going to keep on Suicune. Still, thanks to everyone who gave advice, though I think my moveset I have now still is devastating and unexpected.

You appear to miss my point. What is the purpose of posting this thread if you weren't planning on taking any advice.

I tried to stay out of this, but here I have to disagree. No, it isn't "devastating", imo, and I'll list why.

1. In a lot of online play, the use of OHKO moves are banned. No, I'm not going to explain why, just accept it.

2. Any good player will be able to play around this set. Most people have a Pokemon that can inflict a status move, or at least a strong special attacker. While you're pouring EVs into attacking stats, they'll just have a Pokemon faster than you (Gengar or Shaymin, for example) who can deliver a powerful super effective hit.

3. You have no STAB move. Any electric type Pokemon with decent defense (Lanturn, for example) destroys you. Steel Pokemon also pose a problem. How on earth do you expect to take them down? Especially if they have Sturdy? To use your own words:
This Suicune combo's with no other pokemon.
Which is basically saying that you aren't using anything else to help it out...

Yes, this is your Suicune, do what you want with it, but don't come here for advice, then be rude to other people who try to help you.

I'd take the advice of the members here. The OHKO thing is NOT a real rule but its a pretty standard rule that players follow and if you are seen using it, players with D/C on you.

The people here are trying to help. No we are not the best players but we know how to use walls and tanks. Bulky Water Pokemon are hard to run and the reason is you have to give up a lot to keep them alive.

Take a look at this

Suicune
252 SDEF/252 DEF/6HP
Item: Chesto Berry/Leftovers

Calm Mind
Rest
Sleep Talk
Surf/ Hydro Pump/ Other attack move here

With this set, which I see a of, you get walled by water types. Sure it looks good on paper but how many teams pack a Vaporeon, which can't be hurt my this set? With this Pokemon, using Calm Mind and Rest are needed in the same sets and if you're not using Sleeo Talk, you can add a Hidden Power or Shadow Ball if it learns it but you risk the 2 turn sleep, which is enough for your opponent to set up on.

Suicune is a hard Pokemon to use because its not very fast to use Calm Mind with out recovery or stall and its stab moves get blocked by common types. I say if you do use it, find a way to get it to work without Calm Mind.

I usually don't chime in on these type of topics:

But personally, I'd use something of the like:

Rest
Sleep Talk
Sheer Cold
Ice Beam/Surf

I don't play matches that have OHKO clause. It's a stupid rule because people just don't like it. Too bad, it's part of the game.

Also, play as close to 0 speed as possible to surprise Trick Room Pokemon.

^No.

1. Always run a STAB move on Cune, unless you are trolling someone with Crocune/HP Poison.
2. OHKO clause, just like Species clause and evasion clause, is everywhere. I'd say if you can get into a metagame bad enough where that's not allowed, then just go straight up Crocune.
3. Cune should run a bit of speed to outpace things it ties with.

OHKO clause is NOT approved by everybody. It's just a (you know which site) thing, plenty of people play with OHKO's.

My friends and I would laugh at you if you mentioned that clause.

Most competitive battlers would laugh at you if you use those moves. Just because they are banned does not mean they are good. They remove skill out of the game and are just complete Random Number Generation. The clause is approved by most highly rated players and has its place in the standard rule set. If you don't approve, good for you. Just ensure that when somebody goes to battle you under a "standard rule set", they expect OHKO clause to be there.

That's their problem. It can be a very effective stallbreaking tactic once Skarmory is removed from play, and makes some Pokemon usable that never would really had a shot.

OFC there are better movesets on a lot of the users, but others (like Walrein and Lapras) it works really well, especially if their total stats are low and it's the real game and not (you know who)'s server..

30%+ vs. 0% for some? I'd take it on certain Pokemon. I'm not an idiot.

Maybe.

But RNG is just too haxy, dude. I would run Minimize Bliss and stuff if we didn't have hax clauses. Why do you think Inconsistent was banned, even from Ubers? It breaks the game.

That's not Nintendo. That's (you know who) again.

This is getting really tiring, hearing that (you know who) are the gods of Pokemon again.

Between me and you, I really don't care what other sites say. I'll use OHKO and evasion attacks. Pokemon is a luck based game through and through. It sucks when you get Para Hax 3 turns in a row or sleep for 5 turns or a pokemon wins a speen tie and gets a crit on you and KO's your poke. I'll even use Double Team on a Blissey if it means I can get a win.

I can say this because I know my way around the battle field without using standard pokes and such but they remove OHKO attacks because of the 'chance' that it could sweep your team. Walrein gets both Sheer Cold and Fissure and with speed EV's and a scarf or Quick Claw, thats not a Pokemon you want going first. If you battle me, use what ever you want because this is not an official rule in in official Pokemon tournaments, its not a rule they follow but most people do follow it as a standard rule. You can't use Ubers, OHKO or Evasion mods in a standard unless you set the rules for your style of play.

If you ask me, I say Thunder Wave, all sleep attacks and other haxy moves should be banned if they want to pick and choose.
