Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rayquaza (LA) in infernape 4/Luxray GL?

i was thinking about this, you need to play stark for it to work effectively though, might be fun to take a final prize.

I do not recall Rayquaza being a factor in Pooka's wins. It may have helped 1 match but I did not see it out much

Is the idea to Stark around the fire energy, or to power up Rayquaza? The lighting count is small in this deck, so it seems the first strategy is the intended one. I suppose it could sit in the corner and recover discarded fire, so it would allow the use of Fire Spins more often.
My question is what do you do with a Rayquaza start?

I think I recall him stating that it wasn't the best thing the deck could use, although helpful in many situations. I got the vibe that he was implying that there were better plays... and it was a terrible start.

Don't quote me on that though, lol.

I would either tech a few Warp Energy or attack with him, because Warp Point can't get past Gastly's Pitch Dark or Dialga G's Deafen.

you basically never get ray starts seeing you run ~15-20 pokemon, and 6/7ths of them are basics...

Actually Pooka used it frequently throughout the weekend and several times as an attacker for the quick KO, that is why Darrell Sprayed it whenever he tried to use the Power. Ray is a nice tech as it provides that hard hit and with Lux being able to pull out whatever Poke, Pooka used this to get rid of potential threats after Ray was powered, and OHKO it.

In the T4, he rarely used it, but it helped him get there all day!

It's okay, but you have to have at least 3 or 4 Lightning... which is bleh to me.
But I must say, nothing can really avoid his OHKO. It wins a lot of games.

Ugh, I told everyone at play testing that it was the play. The talked me out of it tho.

Anyway, I've always thought it was good, and I guess this kinda backs that thought.
I never ran SP energy in my RayApe list, so I had 6ish Lighting, making this a strong play

Cards that are flippy look good on paper but don't work well in actual play. I have no doubt that the flippy dragon helped Pooka get into T32 or so after that he really had to start playing and Rayquaza revealed itself to be to much of a risk to warrant its play. (Rampardos GL helped e make it to T32 but i never needed it and would in retrospect preferred to run another Uxie or something.)
If your deck is "loose" (as i assume Pooka's was) then feel free to run it. Just don't come to rely upon a card that has an equal chance of letting you down.

Porygon Z GE looked great on paper too:pokeball:

Just thinking, but I can't possibly see how Pooka's list is loose at all.
The guy ran Stark Mtn. Claydol, Uxie, and Chatot, among other interesting things. His list must have been very tight.

During playtesting, Ray must have proved itself useful to keep it in such a teched out list.
