Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Regigigas Lock; It Ain't Dead Yet

So have I. I have actually tried it. What it comes down to is that it's a huge pain to set up, and ends up slowing you down moreso. When you get to set it up, you're playing a scrub, get lucky, or something along those lines.

I want to bring Gigas to states....but it doesn't look like a good idea =[. 3 Rainbows and a 1-1 Honchkrow suck when you're also trying to fit in abomasnow (completely necessary)

I disagree with abama being necessary.

So yeah. My list 8-0ed OR states and then lost in t16 to shuppet donk...

I beat eeveelution, 3 luxchomps, vilegar, ttar, umbreon and dusknoir.

I'll be writing an article on my last list after states is over and then an article on my current list after nationals.

Perfect example of finicky...

Gigas 8-0's OR state's in swiss...loses in top 16.

Gigas goes 5-2 in WA states losing to 2 Magnezone decks on bad hands then misses cuts...

However, the deck is still amazing regardless when you build it right.

I'm gonna stick with my current list through regionals and see what happens...but regionals is sooooo far away...

After that its gonna depend on what the new set brings to the format, buth in cards and rules...

Certa, thanks for the note.

I played my own build of Gigas for States.
Went Top 8 in IL states, lost to vilegar(Ness) in swiss and sableye lock (Austin Z) in Top 8.
I think there was 4 other Gigas in IL, all different builds (surprise!), Big Chuck (Alex B), I think made cut but dropped with his.
WI states, was late with game loss, but went 4-2 remainder of swiss, losing to sableye (I misplayed my last turn, should have won) and dead hand lost to Magenzone. Still a solid deck. I will comment that I won many times on a Seeker Donk.

My list for WI.

4 2-2 Regigigas ( Promo's if you have them)
4 Mesprites
4 Uxie (1 Level X could work also)
1 Unown Q
2 Crobats
1-1 Mewtwo Lvl X (Tech spot)
1 Regice

3 ExBelt
4 Pokemon Collector
1 Dual Ball
1 Luxury Ball
4 Pokemon Communication
4 Drawer
4 Junk Arm
1 Warp Point (Agree on WP importance, maybe a 2nd)
1 Judge (This is over Giritina, which seems like a liability and bench target vs Luxuray and blaziken, Chomp, but that I will grant is debateable choice)
4 Seeker
2 Vs Seeker

4 Energy Search
2 Metal
2 Water
2 Fighting
3 Psychic (Match your tech line could be DCE too)

Easy to add different tech. And yes, my trainer line does make this build hard to beat full game trainer lock. Struggle versus Sableye with Hunchkrow SV when I played the Mewtwo. would try other tech line.

So with the Black and White Rule change set to hit with the next set and no current announcement for a mid season rotation, the current day Gigas player is left with a couple thoughts...

First turn Collector is going to be amazing, but what's the point if you don't get a first turn? Sableye is a serious threat if a decent list gets going and it works how it's supposed to. I am currently focusing on trying to find a balanced sableye starting gigas alongside my current list.

It's going to be a very interesting rest of season,

Btw...I HATE asking...

But has anyone tested against...Magnezone/Regirock -_-'

The deck is brutal and the second your power lock breaks its pretty much game over...The lists I've come up against in my area are TOUGH and even though people don't like it, I'm ashamed to say that for the first time in a LONG time, I've finally hit something I legitimately have a hard time beating...

Dennis?

I admit that Magnezone is bad match up for the deck. I have a version with Donphan tech, and it can help the match up, but the deck big hitting capabilities is hard. My list above has a stronger full game power lock potential because of my max seeker and mesprite, but even with power lock, they can still pop your big time.

congrats to Cetra for taking gigas all the way to 2nd place in NW regionals! personally I placed 18th in W. canada with it going 4-2. anyone else wanna share they,re regionals experiences with gigas?

Collin moll went 6-2 at missouri regionals.
He lost to machamp and a magnezone deck. He dropped when he saw he would be playig against Machamp.
:/

So I placed second at the largest regional championship in the US ironically losing to Machamp/Vileplume played by Tyler Ninomura in top 2. I went 10/2for the day with losses to Zane N. With dialgachomp and a random gdos donk thing in swiss. My wins were Bad Romance r1 (regret posting my article for it by the end of the day...), shuppet donk (who beat me out of5op 16 at OR STATES AFTER GOING UNDEAFEATED IN SWISS), Scizor, Dusknoir, gdos, Vilegar w/ magnezone prime tech. Top cut matches were Vilegar top 32, Dialgachomp top 16, David Topdeck Cohen w/ luxchomp top 8,vilegar w/ mag prime (same from swiss), Tyler w/ Machamp Vileplume.

Ill write up my report when I'm home the ill pry be writing up a new Gigas article, but odds are I'm done playing for the season unless I luck into a worlds invite
