Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Regional Championships 2008, Parsippany NJ 4/12/2008

 Team NFC is the true winner.

I think you guys are over looking some great cards and decks. Empoloen is good. T2D00M and skittles arent bad.

Money Match ftw.

H*** Yeah Empoleon and HounDOOM are both chargin their lazers.

I might even play empoleon for regionals

A skilled Magmortar player can beat Gardy with a bench of three. No autoloss about it.

You have to get a lot of luck also. If you dont, your gonna have problems. I dont care how "skilled" you are, if you get caught at just the right time your gonna have problems.

JMO,
Drew

I think in that first statement your missing the word doubt, but I agree I expect almost nobody to play Banette, which means that GG should be the correct choice for Regionals.

Secondly, I dont agree wtih your comment that only 2-4 players in NY play GG. Did you see what did well at NY States? Wasnt like 5 or 6 of the top cut for states GG? If your telling me most play Rogue/Magmortar, I think that you have finally lost all your "marbles" if you you actually beleive that GG will not be 65-70% of the decks. :)tongue:) You have to remember, that most decks need a big bench and if GG plays Dusknoir, then any Rogue deck I dont care what it is, will have problems if they need a big bench. Not to mention that Magmortar will have an exceptionally hard time dealing with the fact that they can only have 3 bench pokemon. That should stop anyone from considering Magmortar Variants, unless they truly want to not do well.

JMO,
Drew

Okay, well let me ask you this. The top cut was what? 4-5 GG and then 2-3 Magmortar? This about this Chris, if as you say everyone in NY plays Magmortar, or most of them do, and they didnt make the cut in both NJ and NY or just one and they are planning to go to regionals, would that discourage you if you saw that 5 GGs made the cut and did very well? Wouldnt you consider switching from Magmortar to GG? I mean I know Dusknoir doesnt win the matchup, but with most GG playing Water Techs or Dusknoir it really can give Magmortar huge issues. I will say Dan also played GG and he is a NY player.

50% GG
10% Empoloen
20%maggytar
15%Bannette
5% SD

Your out of your mind. There isnt gonna be 10% Empoleon, 20% Magmortar, and 15% Banette. I can see 20% Magmortar but I think that isnt going to be at all true. Banette is a deck that takes more skill that you think. It can be hard to decide what to do at what moment. I will say that if 15% of the Decks are Banette, there is something wrong. I expect about 3-6 players to play it, if that. I expect most players to be playing Rogue or GG. I think that will make up over 80% of the decks. Empoleon is horrible at the moment. It has problems with GG, even if it plays Cessation. Plus Pachirisu does 70 for 1 energy if it does.
