Summary: If you think you might be going to US Nationals, register now. It will tell you if you have points issues.
Having worked the line at Nationals since the point requirements went into place for the US National Championships a couple years ago, I've heard a lot of our players trying to explain to TPCi staff and volunteers about why they really had enough points to qualify for entry to the event, but the points weren't recorded. The point requirement seems to have gotten each year, and - no special information - I would expect that you might not get in without it this year.
So, if you think you're going to Nationals, but you're still working out logistics, REGISTER NOW. This will tell you (see picture) whether your points are recorded correctly. You will not want to move heaven and earth to get transport and room only to find you can't enter the Championship.
Oh, by the way, you MUST register online. If you don't register NOW, but show up on site, guess what, you'll probably have to borrow a smartphone from a pal (or use yours) and register. This is not pre-registration, but the way you enter the event. Do it NOW.
