Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Report (Fabien Garnier, Masters, 5th, Smub_it.deck)

Very well played. I heard about you during the event and I was so shocked to see the deck at the top table.

You were the guy in orange, no? I wish I would've spoken to you, it would've given me a chance to practice my french.

I wish you well.

Hey!!

Amazing deck, almost everyone here in Brazil was like "COME ON GYARADOS, COME ON, WE BELIEVE GYARADOS CAN WIN WORLDS"

Hahahah

To bad you were unlucky in the last match

Nice deck idea!!

Congrats and wish to meet you next year ^^

Hey Fabien a question from Argentina :p.

Was really helpfull the Darkness energy?

P.D.: Well Done man! Congrats!

Very nice! I was the curly haired short kid that was always saying short comments to you :p

Great deck, I'm French myself (my last name is Fouchet haha) so this is very cool! Congratulations!

Congratulations Fabien with such an unorthodox list! You really suprised everyone, even me that a deck like that made it that far in the Worlds tournament. I also have to say congratulations for also winning Nationals in your area and I read your French report. I used the translator to translate it to english =D.

The last time I was suprised when a rogue deck did really well at worlds was Queendom. Back in 2005 when Jeremy M. won worlds with that deck, and it was funny when no one knew about that deck. Now, Gyarados is the next biggest suprise deck that no one knew about until Worlds.

By the way, my background is French so im 90% French on my dads side and 10% Polish from my moms side! Least you and I have something in common xD My last name is Berliant

impressive. when i heard about a gyarados in the tops, my friend and i went whoa, how did that deck ACTUALLY works so well in a format full of luxrays etc. Whoa, Good job on coming 5th!

Fabien: My names Jay I was the guy wereing the Pink polo sitting at the table next to you in top 8. We would have played had you beat Silvestro. Hence why we should have played.

I know this is gonna sound noobish but how does registeel help in this deck? like how is it used?

Regi Heal, discard 2 cards from your hand. And it also heals 30 by the way ! (In the compendium it's written that you're allowed to use Regi Heal even with no damage counter on Registeel, I don't know why but well, that's cool.)

I didn't use it of all the Worlds I think, but my friends did and it's often useful ;-)

You were the guy in orange, no? I wish I would've spoken to you, it would've given me a chance to practice my french.

Yes, I was wearing an orange t-shirt (Team Gouda) !

Hey Fabien a question from Argentina :p.

Was really helpfull the Darkness energy?

It's not noobish. Actually, I didn't use it a lot. I played 2 of them at Nats and got the donk once in my mirror against kiwill (sorry again man that sucked !), but, with only 1 in the deck, you never get Sableye + Darkness Energy (+ Crobat G for 50HP Pokémon) on the 1st turn, and Sableye forces you to start, so...
I used it once, on the second turn, to kill my opponent's active Baltoy (he had another one benched, he knew I was gonna do this), because when you have Roseanne's Research in hand, T2 you can do Roseanne's Research for Crobat G + Darkness Energy and kill the 50HP Defending Pokémon.
But honestly, it was a useless card IMO.

Thanks everybody for the congrats, oh and there are a lot of "french" people, that's great =)

Chompy, thank you I'm very touched. Thank you for reading my french report =)

This guy is my hero for playing such a cool deck at Worlds and making it all the way to the Top8. =]

Seriously, that is an awesome feat. Congrats and I hope you win Worlds one day. =D

Yeah... I dropped the darkness energy in my list. Used to be useful when we had Houndoom G in the deck, but now...

Despite going out on bad luck you can still say,"I've met a lot of great people, I've played beautiful games, so I'm really happy."

That shows what it's all about,I had the pleasure of watching parts of your games against Steve, you gave him a run for his money alright;he told me the story of all these whiffed flips later on and how you really did have a great deck.

Congratulations again and best of luck to you!

Congrats. I saw the list during checks and was very intrigued as to how it would perform.

Hail the rise of the red face powder!

You played GREAT. France should be very proud.
I knew you would do this good. ^^ Too bad for the bad luck of course, but it's still a part of the game. =-)
Magnificent result anyway!

Thanks Helga. You did great too, I was so surprised, as you didn't play after your Nats ! Sorry if I didn't think your deck could make the top-cut, shame on me, I'm so sorry :$ You're really good, it didn't matter if you used an old deck ;-)

Congrats on making 5th!! I'm glad to see a deck that contains Magikarp make it at Worlds. I'm building this to play my league leader who built the Flygon deck that got 2nd.
