Request for a decklist from POP

I got an email from POP stating my son's decklist was misplaced, and they'd like to have a copy of it for their files. I thought decklists were disposed off after each event. I don't mind sending it, but I just thought the request was a tad odd. Does this seem like something POP would request?

Thanks,

Did it say they need his birthdate, social security number and other info? I'd be very skeptical of something like this, What was the email address it came from and who do they want it sent to?

Thanks for the replies.

It didn't ask for any of my son's personal info. My son came in Top 8 at Nationals, which is the decklist they're asking for. The email had @pokemon.com, but it's not from a general mailbox like General Questions, etc.... I really don't see any harm in sending it. I just thought it was odd.

From the 2008-2009 Pokémon Organized Play Tournament Rules from go-pokemon.com

Each player’s deck list is considered to be confidential, and should not be shared with anyone other than the event staff or POP. After a player has finished an event, the Tournament Organizer may return the deck list to the player if requested, as long as it does not impact the pace of the event. All remaining deck lists must be destroyed after the completion of the event, unless POP specifically requests them for internal use.
(bolding mine)

So they probably wanted it for "internal use." If you were POP/TPCi, wouldn't you want to know what the top decks included?

How did you get your son's decklist back from Nats? They were all up on the stage and POP should have it already, unless it was already destroyed.

No, he didn't get his decklist back from Nats. In the email, it says they didn't have it when they got back to the office, and they'd like to have a copy on file. I don't have an actual copy. I imagine they just want the list typed in an email.

Thanks again for all the responses. I don't think it's a netdecker, but the email just struck me as odd. I'm not sure how they'd get my email address if they were. Hopefully, I'll get something more official.

That would be the new guy on the OP team, Dan Brandt. Some of the decklists didn't make it back to the office, so he's been tasked with chasing them down so that they can be given to R&D.

Dan needs to pop onto the Gym so we can get him a logo under his name.
Speaking of which... we need a new logo for you guys.

Sorry for the confusion with the deck lists japple52, I appriciate you sending it in for us!

No problem, Biggie. I was only confused because I thought that deck lists were thrown out/destroyed after each event. I was incorrect. It makes perfect sense they'd be used for R&D.
