Reshiram Counter?

Does anyone know a good reshiram counter? Or a way to beat Reshiphlosion other than catcher (because that doesnt seem to work for me) and isnt a stage 2? Im trying to find a counter for my rogue deck.

Discuss!

Well first of all what is your red face paint deck your running? we need to know what type of energy your using a such...
I love using basculin from emerging powers... His last resort attack can knock out a typhlosion in one hit! so any cyndaquils you missed with catcher just kill it with basculin

you can kill reshirams with zoroark and a plus power/dark energy your could use SEL but basculin does that with a chance of death

Unless you play Vileplume, the odds of you effectively checking Reshiram are slim now that they will play Catcher in place of Reversal. It is difficult to set up a counter that will take less than two turns to set up or won't die from a 120 shot during the setup phase. Zoroark and Basculin both die to a Blue Flare after being Catchered up, when countering a main card in a deck you have to look for other things the opponent can do to your strategy to shut it down.

The best way of countering Reshiram is probably using SEL with Vileplume down.

well i tried sel and so far it has been most effective but see it is just a 2 for 2 prize exchange.... i kill there resiram they do 120... then i kill there reshiram and they kill my legend and take 2 prizes. so it just is a 2 for 2 prize exchange

Well as Victory Bell pointed out most counters are kept in check by the rest of the deck, but Lanturn Prime has been getting some hype. It has been hyped as both a reshiram and a donphan counter to a certain extent.

Some also swear by using Samurott (Shell Armor), but it's definitely not easy to tech into a deck. If you're already running Rare Candy, though, it might be worth it.

Lanturn is worse than a prize for prize as it lasts for one turn and takes two energy to set up.

Samurott is a good hard counter but gets Catchered as a basic. What reshiram player wouldn't kill a Water basic if they could.

This is true. But what isn't a prize trade in the current format. (Samurott but it's somewhat slow)

It would help if you at least told us the basis of the deck.

oh it is a stage one rush

lolk then forget Samurott. And Vileplume.

SEL is your best bet because you can Catcher up 2 Typhs before it dies (yeah, killing more than one Reshiram with it is sorta pointless, your right) imo.

Really, with no Plume I think SEL is the best way to shut down the deck. Its decently splashable due to you already playing DCE. Rainbow fits pretty well. Use Zoroark to revenge kill Reshirams (which they MUST respond to with a Blue Flare therefore distracting them from the SEL on the bench being built up). When you run out of Zoroark or ways to keep the kills going use SEL for two kills on Typhlosions.

The thing about trying to beat TyRam is that unless you have a trick like Aipom or Reuniclus, the deck is incredibly difficult to break down with only brute force and returning kills (granted it is easier for Stage ones now with Catcher...)

The matchup for TyRam vs Stage ones (assuming at least Yanmega and Zoroark) is really all about who gets the last word on revenge kills. I played TyRam at worlds and have a great handle on the matchup, as a TyRam player, I know how you could beat me. SEL is certainly helpful, especially as a finisher for the last 2 prizes. (ending the game before they can kill it)

Stage 1 is the exact opposite of rogue. Unless you mean something other than Donphan/Yanmega/Zoroark.

Do SEL/Basculin with 4 Catcher and 4 Junk Arm. Aim for their Typhlosion, not their Reshiram. They'll just keep spamming them with the help of Typhlosion.

In stage 1 rush, if you are using Yanmega, you could try to max out your Judge count and target Ninetails/Vulpix kos with Catcher to deny hand size....

Seems Reshi has learned not to be so reliant on them anymore. I personally am just getting to the point of taking them out for Cheren and Hand Refresh.

Nothing else than SEL crosses my mind honestly. Red Collection/Noble Victories could give us an answer (It does give us the death of the big elephant at least...)

The King speaks of the great ice dragon kyurem. Gatr kyurem will be everywhere once november comes around.

Actually, I meant Cryogonal

Yes, two turns, but it also takes that long to set up any stage one. (Donphan, Yanmega, etc)

And everybody, don't start claiming you'll just catcher it before its setup, because you can't actually kill until until your setup! :thumb:

A turn 2 donphan is very common.. While if cryogonal is a tech in your deck.. having it out turn two will be a rarity.

Possibly shishio, that is a very big possibility, its also why I have 9 feraligator primes...

Why would you speak of the snowflake? he does pitiful damage to reshi as a water type. Also im lost, i have no idea how this shifted to donphan. Is it because OP is playing stage 1 rush? if so id still play kyurem because of its colorless attacks.
