Reuniclus help

I'm not sure what moveset to give my reuniclus, i'm not trying to make it competitive or anything right now. I just want some advice.

I'm thinking of having something like:

Endeavor (to combo with recover)
Recover (to combo with endeavor)
Psychic (stab purposes)
Shadow Ball, Focus Blast or Energy Ball (this is where you guys come in)

which one do you think is best:

:::Focus Blast is to deal with dark types but I'm worried about it's accuracy
:::Shadow Ball is there to deal with ghost types, the problem is, there aren't much ghost types around
:::Energy Ball is just there for variety

so which is best? Please say why it is better and if you have any other suggestion, please post it.

I'd also like confirmation on his ability: Magic Guard (i'm thinking of pairing Reuniclus with the life orb)

serebii says that it prevents damage from anything but direct hit attacks

does that mean weather effects, special conditions that do damage (burn, poison, etc), recoil and future sight don't affect it? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!:thumb:

I think recoil and future sight would affect it since that's from an attack.

Weather and special conditions don't damage it. Neither do spikes/SR iirc.

It says direct attack, so I don't think future sight will count, but I'm not sure. Let's see what everyone else says.

Honestly, I wouldn't use Endeavor. Unless you get trick Room in there somehow, by the time Endevor is strong enough to really hit you'll need to Recover to stay alive. I'd replace it with Calm Mind.

Focus Blast is best in-game. there are SO many Dark types that it's nice to be able to one-shot them. Accuracy is a little shaky, but if you give 'em a hold item that increases accuracy (Can't recall the name right now) it's really good.

On Magic Guard:
"Spikes, Stealth Rock, burn, poison, Leech Seed, hail, sandstorm, Nightmare, Bad Dreams, Jaboca Berry recoil, Rowap Berry recoil, Life Orb's 10% recoil damage, damage from a Ghost Curse, and regular recoil do no damage to this Pokémon. Struggle's recoil, however, will still damage a Pokémon with Magic Guard. This Pokémon can be poisoned or burned, but it will not take any damage. The Attack drop associated with being burned still applies. Leech Seed will neither damage a Magic Guard Pokémon nor heal its enemy. Pokemon with Magic Guard cannot activate their target's Jaboca or Rowap Berry. Pain Split works normally on Magic Guard Pokemon.

If a Magic Guard Pokemon is under the effects of Toxic poison, their Toxic counter still increases normally, even though they aren't taking damage. This means that if the Pokemon loses Magic Guard, the Toxic damage it receives is the same as it would be getting on that turn if it hadn't had Magic Guard.

Magic Guard Pokemon still take poison damage out of battle.

This Pokemon can be paralyzed, and its Speed will be reduced as for any other Pokemon, but it will never be fully paralyzed."<- (Only in Gen 4, in Gen 5 it CAN be fully paralyzed.)

Also, Future Sight deals direct damage, it's just delayed a turn. It hits Reuniclus.

I guess I should replace endeavor...

So, the move set looks something like:

Shadow Ball (defeat other psychic types and ghost types)
Psychic (stab)
Focus Blast (possible OHKO on some Pokémon including dark types)
Recover (quick recovery)

Focus Blast doesn't just help against Dark types but against Steel which is everywhere and resists Psychic. Psyshock is an interesting alternate to Psychic giving Reinculus a bit of a mixed attacker feel. The final move on Reinculus really depends on what his role is on your team. Trick Room, Calm Mind, Trick (with Flame Orb), Shadow Ball, Energy Ball/Grass Knot etc. are all strong possibilities.
The Magic Guard ability DOES prevent recoil damage from attacks or items meaning that Reinculus is an excellent candidate for holding Life Orb. Breeding one with Trick and holding a Flame Orb (Burn will not damage Reinculus) will give him immunity to all status as well as allow a one time Burning of an opponent. Leftovers of course is always viable on a wall like this.
Reinculus is slow but quite powerful. It is a bit vulnerable to being Taunted since it is quite slow and almost every variety runs at least a couple of non direct attacks.

Psychic has higher base power and the potential to lower S. Def, more PP...

It kind of depends on whether you have plenty of things that can take out special defenders already. If not, Psyshock is kind of cool.

Modest nature
Miscevious Charecter

max hp and sp atk

shadow ball
Psychic/Psyshock
Protect
Trick Room

I love him...

W/Magic Guard holding a life orb*

Also I'm favoring psyshock over psychic...

Don't listen to these people...

In singles, his best use is a Bold 252/252 CMer with Psyshock/Focus Blast or HP Fighting/CM/Recover. Can sweep teams.

How do you know they weren't talking about doubles, where a Bold CMer is relatively fail?
