Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rhyperior for Regionals

I am going to run a Rhyperior variant for regionals and it is NOT going to be MewPerior. I was wondering what techs you all would put in. I was either going to run Spiritomb start and delcatty tech or run Ninetales Blissey Prime and delcatty tech.

Rescue Energies would help tons, also one of those Dialgas that puts 3 cards back on top of your deck (forget which one). Dunno if Ninetales would help a whole lot. Other than that just try and stay consistent.

1 Mew might not hurt for Gyara. It would seem pretty brutal.

Absolutley 2-2 Delcatty and a Dialga PT

mew will still help consistency seems foolish not to run it.

I dunno. You're not going to want a Rx in the lost zone here, and the deck won't run psychic energy.

I like this for a Rhyp strategy:
4 Tomb: Your optimal starter. Rhyperior is VERY slow.
2-2 Delcatty: Makes Hard Crush the brox.
Rescue Energy + BTS: Very good especially if you have another Rhyperior waiting on the bench.
Seeker + Warp Energy/Point: Heal the 170HP tank. Again, have a fresh one on the bench to level up right away.
Expert Belt: Increase Tank-ability and reach 120 numbers guaranteed from 'Catty.
That's about it. The thing is really hard to kill. And Rhyperior's first attack is actually quite good, so Fighting energy is the way to go.
Energy Line might be the trickiest aspect to get just perfect. I might go:
4 Rescue
4 Warp Energy
10 Fighting
Keep in mind Delcatty will only net you 2 of the 10 basics from the discard pile.

you can splash a few psychic and cyrus as backup in case something happens ive seen mew to be a lot faster then sticking with straight ryperior.

Regirock + Stark Mountain to help you swarm them as best you can.
a single Bubble Coat will probably be a life-saver for you against your weakness matchups. (keeping one rhyperior up there just a few turns will help you load up the next one)

It may be unrealistic to think that you'll get to attack with LvX all game long.

Registark seems pointless. After all the X attack is free, and the only other attack you'd ever wanna use is just FCC

Hey thanks guys, I think it'll probably be 4 Spiritomb 2-2 Delcatty
3-3-3-1 Rhyperior
I haven't found room for Regirock Stark yet but I think I'll try. Deep scrap is definitely a good attack. Last year I ran this at states and had DCE for That.

This may sound crazy.. but I attempted this during BRs and it was somewhat successful. Run Warp Energy and Luxray GL LvX. It gives you a counter to G'Dos and powers up your Rage. The Beefy HP of Perior is crazy and the low nrg cost is ridiculous for the possible out put. Also, If you Run Seeker and Stark, You can put down a Rhyhorn, Stark the nrg over, the BTS back to Rhyperior. Flash Impact, put the 30 on the New Rhy then next turn Retreat or Poke Turn, attach a Belt to Rhyperior and Raging Drill for 80 for FC. If you want, you can always Galactic Switch the nrg to Rhy before turning the Lux helping the nrg count! Works Well... tossin Rainbow for Raging Drill and you just keep hitting!

Good Luck!

It might seem silly to mention this (it may be obvious), but Expert Belt holds added bonuses for Rhyperior. It increases the potential damage of Raging Drill by 40, and increases the chances of KOing something with Deep Scrap for the mill.

I personally don't use Delcatty in my Rhyperior; it seems too much like Dragon Rush bait. Instead I run 3 PT Dialgas, and nearly half my deck is energy. That way I only use the power when it's absolutely necessary; attacking with Hard Crush generally knocks things out without stacking the deck. Because of the high energy count, I run Spiritomb as my set-up Pokemon, although Sableye could work too. I find Spiritomb to be a little bit more consistent and helpful for the way I play the deck, especially running 4 Call Energy, but I think it's more of a personal decision than anything that has a clear advantage. I also run a 2-2-2-2 Rhyperior line. Very minimal, just because I use so much space for energy.

These are things that I've done; maybe you'll have more success with a traditional build. In any case, I wish you luck. Rhyperior is a really fun deck.

If you like Rhyperior, you might want to try magmortar?
this was a list i was working on before states. it's rough

The Pokemon: 20
3 Magmortar CL
1 Magmortar SV
4 Magmar TM
3 Ninetales CL
3 Vulpix "Shiny"
1 Dialga X "Time Skip"
3 Dialga PL 05 "Reverse Time"
2 Jirachi RR

Trainers: 24
4 Research Record
3 VS Seeker
3 Seeker
3 Bebe's Search
3 Warp Point
2 Junk Arm
3 Engineer's Adjustments
3 Pokemon Collector
1 Luxury Ball

Energy:16
4 Double Colorless Energy
4 Call Energy
8 Fire Energy

it really depends which decks you expect. if you think that there will be many gdos then play explous sv to remove your weakness AND ruins of alph to remove resistance. besides i would play more energies if you want to use hard crush. i think raging drill is the best attack of rhyperior because hard crush can discard vital cards. ofc you have delcatty but you still discard too much vital cards (you could try 4-2 gdos and hope you will discard some magikarps...)
if you focus on raging drill you need cards which damage your own pokemon or shift damage to rhyperior (too bad that the pokemon like the old alakazam is not released yet) and play exploud sv to remove rhyperiors weakness if needed. some cards like donphan, groudon, ttar and unown p could damage your own pokemon

Test the deck. Then see if you can validate this statement.

I've run the deck. You can't "just use FCC" ... lol

I thought Raging Drill cost FCC, but FC is much better. Also, I have tested the deck, and with Spiritomb, BTS and 20+ energy there is no room for 2 Stark Mountain and Regirock.

i agree i Run Ryperior its KILLED! LostGar Dismantled LuxChomp and HARD CRUSHED! the hell out of VileGar my set up is so fast within at most! 5 turns regardless of being locked by anything i can get ryperior x out and start destroying
