Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

RIP Bugs Bunny

They need to check and make sure that boardroom has proper ventilation. I don't think those execs are getting enough air.

Good Lord, "Buzz" there looks like something I'd meet up with in a nightmare. Am I the only one who gets chills looking at that thing? *shudder*

The series will be set in the future and will feature a tough-talking rabbit with laser eyes and who is a martial arts expert.

I swear that this sounds like a hoex. This sounds utterly, unbelievably, rediculous.

[...]the characters will display the same wit and humor as the classics.

And Weezing will begin emitting sunshine, rainbow, flowers and butterflies.

[edit - Looked over the new character designs. They're all... pretty much the same. And the new Taz scares the living daylights out of me.]

As a cartoonist, this makes me very sad.. The title of the story, "If it ain't broke.." couldn't be more accurate.

Sander Schwartz/President of Warner Brothers Animation: said:
"What we're doing is taking Bugs Bunny, a classic and changing him for the kids – making him fresh, cool and hip."

If they're right, then everything else must be wrong. :nonono:

I saw this on another message board I frequent. And then on another one earlier today. And my brother brought it up on the way home from Magic last night.

*reads on*

Hip... hip... what's that mean again? *whips out Committee/English Dictionary* Oh yeah, I remember now... well, not really, it's before my time. But really, lasers? That's lame. Built-in Sonar? Is Daffy a robot? Dethth-spicable. Lord help those Tweety Bird fans when HE gets revealed. They're all on the same ship, as a team, sharing the same uniform styles. It won't be anything like the Loony Toons, the formula just is completely different. They can say what they like, this ain't an update it's a new beast. And frankly I'm getting sick of that jagged cartoon style showing up everywhere.

I'm willing to give this show the benefit of the doubt, just as long as they stop calling it hip and saying it'll retain the classic wit and humour. I'll watch the first ep with an open mind. I'm not able to get the image of the superhero Snap Crackle and Pop from the 1980s out of my head, though.

I heard about this, sad enough, on Regis & Kelly ;/ it's really bad they're trying to "update" these classic cartoons in to new, "hip", ones.

wow.....just....wow. I dont know what to say. This does sound like a hoax, but...And as said before, the Looney Toons/Tunes are american icons...wow...Im nearly in shock...

Remember everyone, this is only for one show. There will still be the regular bugs and others for everything else. It's sad that the article doesn't even say that until the last line, I guess they really didn't want to flush their whole article down the drain.

Batman Beyond comes to mind. Taking a known icon, making him more modern. Don't throw the show away without watching it.

Yeah, but Batman didn't turn from a rabbit into a rabid mechanic death titan that you might see in Pegasus's Yugioh deck. Seriously, that... thing... makes me want to puke. I think now is an approprate time to say to whoever had this idea:

"WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING???"

I guess I'll watch the first one, but it'll prolly give me nightmares. That 'upgraded' Bugs Bunny is just way too creepy.

I saw this on a news channel all the kids said the old bugs bunnie is better because Bugs doesn't scare them
Plus you can still watch Bugs Bunnie on Boomerrang good thing i have it

Booooooooo........

This is bad. The only thing I can think of is they become superheros. Anyone remember Space Jam? Now that was Looney Toon days.

Space Jam sucked, though. To use the "If it ain't broke..." analogy, there certainly wasn't anything wrong with the original material. Unfortunatly, attempts to modernize the characters have fallen short, since they don't have the original creators that made the characters great in the first place. That's why Space Jam sucked (and I heard the same of Back in Action, though I haven't seen it). Same thing happened with Mickey Mouse & Gang and, even my personal favorite, Tom & Jerry.

In regards to this new series, I don't see how this can retain the same wit and humor when the wit and humor of the originals revolved around how the characters were at odds with each other, not working as a team.

Also, here's a promotional short. Ugh.

They have yet to upgrade Top Cat yet, thank the deities of every religion out there that he ain't a Warner, though I do dread the day my personal fave Loony Tune, Foghorn Leghorn, shows up in this.

Cheers for the movie, Soda, I was hoping to find something like that. I know this is a spin-off rather than a replacement. Like that baby Tunes thing they have on the Irish-language channel at the moment. I have to admit the idea has a little potential. They haven't revealed any central bad guy yet. Hopefully they won't. That would surely kill it. Looney Tunes works as a group of individuals whose strong personalities constantly bounce off each other. This could be a bit like Red Dwarf with that familiar Warner anvils-n'-Acme-rockets humour. It'll still be sacreligous, but perhaps no more so than Tiny Toons.

Just to go on record to say that I loathed Tiny Toons even when I was in the target age group. Tasmania still reigns supreme among spin-offs.

That thing hasn't loaded yet, Soda. I'll have to come back to it...

Taz of Tasmania actually bugged me, but I loved Tiny Toons. It was great, but I think they ultimate Looney Toons for today is actually Animaniacs. That show could do no wrong, and they even launched one of the best cartoons made in the US: Pinky And the Brain....But then that lead to Pinky, Elmyra, and the Brain, but let's not talk about that.

And I agree that Batman Beyond is an example of an update gone right. I still wish they'd continue that over The Batman. (Note he is Batman! Not THE Batman! Ugh!). That show was great, and I could think of only one lame episode. And Will Friedel was amazing in it.

My rule for new shows: after three episodes, put on the judge's gown, but not an episode before.

The Loonatics is a little shocking, and a little cheesy sounding, as its pitch sounds weak, but it got approved by the same guys who said "Da Boom Crew? Sign me up!" So we should trust their wisdom...

Tiny Toons Rocked, but Animaniacs was better. Pinky and the Brain rocked too...until WB put Elmyra in the series, cancelling an awesome show. Space Jam didn't suck, it was a brilliant movie that the WB did. I actually LIKED how the Loonatics look, but that doesn't mean that I would judge the show...yet. Baby Looney Tunes was ok, but I didn't like Batman Beyond, or the Batman(shivvers in lameness and disgusted about it). Anyways, the show might do ok if people give it a chance.
