Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rockford IL City Championships Sat Jan 9!

Honestly, this tournament should have Top 8 if we were to do 6 rounds because alot of players will have a 5-1 record or 4-2 even.

She had over 100 people in the middle of a blizzard last year. I seriously doubt that it'll be changed because the blizzard happened yesterday. ^_^

Let's just see if it's the biggest east of the Rockies. I have no delusions of cramming enough people into that space to beat Oregon's 130+ last year. I'd probably place Rockford a solid #2 overall, which wouldn't be too bad IMO. Next year, maybe, if she can find a bigger space. But not this year.

Be glad this one happened two days before. The streets should be clear 2 days after a snowstorm. I'm expecting a completely full room for this thing.

The invasion is coming. we cant wait.

OMG can't wait to see you guys Troy! It's been FOREVER since I've seen you!

I've got the room all set, we did some creative rearranging and now have seating for 122. Don't know if we'll get that many, but it's definitely possible. I've had a couple calls from frantic players in IA looking to play since theirs got canceled. The roads seem fine in Rockford, but plan ahead - don't be late to miss round 1, bring everything you need with you, check your decks and sleeves for problems, & have your decklists ready ahead of time, because your decklist will be entering you into the tourney. I've got all the details up at my website.

My staff and I are looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, and hopefully you'll all have safe travels! :thumb:

Now I've gotta go finish baking the brownies!

Oh, did you see the hats I made for tomorrow?

Just leaving now. Should be there in about 1.5 hrs. I'm hoping that 122 is enough, Camille. My projections put this tournament at around 140, easy, given the blizzard conditions and 108 you got last year, as well as the pretty consistent 20-30% growth this game has seen for the last few years for big events.

Who knows? Maybe we'll actually be able to see outside at the end of the day today ^_~! It'll be fun, cya there!

Well what an amazing day we had! We filled every seat we had for players and ended up with 125! We'd definitely need a bigger place for any more than that! Players came from all over the region, perfect example in our 1st place winners - one from IA, one from IL, and one from WI. I'll have the pics and videos up shortly (Facebook kept stalling out when I tried to upload them earlier >.<) Sure was a lot of fun! Was great to see everyone again! So many Pokemon friends!

Here's the details!

I also gave away some Pokemon hats that I made! Everyone seemed to like them, we had a lot of players sign up to enter! The winners were:

The Shinx hat - Jessica J
The Charmander hat - Chuck L
The Piplup hat - Justin W
The Mew hat - Michelle L

We had lots of other cool door prizes we gave away (some really cool ones donated by our good friends Keith & Christina) and we also had a free Modified side event while the Top cuts were going on. The winners of that event were:

1st Jordan C
2nd Clark C
3rd Jozell F

We had a pretty smooth day, with the exception of an early printer problem before the tourney started, an issue involving a pair of tongs and a baggie (don't ask, I won't tell, lol), and last but not least, topped off with the fact that after we got things all cleaned up and were ready to leave, my van didn't start >.< Ended up having it towed back to Beloit. Oh well.

Huge thanks to my Staff - Devin, Keny, Derrick, Ryan, Bob, and Natalie (and James too for all his help moving tables and things! Thanks to all of them for being there for me and helping be a part of this great event! Especially Devin - I couldn't do it without you - all your long hours getting everything set up Friday then broken down late Sat, your brainstorming beforehand, your dedication to fair rulings, and help with whatever I need! I appreciate it!

Hope everyone had a great time, and hope to see you all on Jan 30th for our HeartGold Soulsilver Prerelease! (details at my website!

Thanks so much for coming!)

Camille, thanks for a great event! Love my new Piplup hat - although I'm probably going to give it to my girlfriend. Any chance you'd do a commission for a Slowpoke one? You've really got quite a talent in making those!
