Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Rosarade Le Parfume and ACESPEC.

I disagree. Skyla would be "wasting" a supporter.

How many times have you played juniper/pont/bianca/any other supporter looking for that last catcher/switch/dark patch/etc and whiffed, thats a wasted supporter. Skyla will be played in almost every deck.

Skyla for Gold Potion or Scramble Switch is a great use for a supporter.

Not so with Computer Search imo.

Le Parfum follows much the same goal as Skyla, but Skyla's existence makes Roserade a bit redundant.

How many times have you opened with skyla and lost because you couldn't get enough cards you needed? If you've actually tested, your answer will be 'on occasion'. Skyla will only be played in decks that can truly abuse it.

The only advantage to Roserade over Skyla is that I can use Call for Family and Level Balls to search out the Roselia/Roserade combo and still use my Supporter on those turns. With Skyla I have to depend on luck of the draw to have it in hand. I am curious to see which will prove more consistent when I swap one out for the other.

Same could be said with bianca but she was still played. Yes ive started with skyla i used it for a dark patch and got a turn 2 night spear. The fact that there are 5 playable supporters in the current format means you cant be very picky.

Actually, now that I think about it, I've never had this happen ever! I can Skyla for something useful and often will draw into, or get N'd into, another supporter quite quickly.

It doesn't stop your argument from being true - in some situations, particularly early game, Skyla is a dead supporter - but with a count of 2 Skyla and 1 Computer Search, I've not had this problem enough to really remember it. My decks have definitely improved in consistency (vastly) since adding those three trainers.

Being your testing partner, I can confirm that this has happened at least once or twice. However, those times were when we were just starting to test Skyla and didn't understand how to use it effectively. I agree with Kayle when he says that Skyla is improving consistency in most decks. Especially once you learn it isn't a 4-of or a 3-of... 2 seems to be about right. : ).

Search supporters are bad. I mean, Bebe's Search never saw any play

Bebe format had Claydol and then Uxie. It also had starter Pokemon and wasnt run by things you can open the game with. We have Empoleon. Bebe would be bad now. Skyla is mediocre now because it, in itself, ruins Random Reciever's consistancy meaning you cant always get a supporter with it.

Roserade is ok, but none of the Ace Specs are powerful enough to warrant Roserade right now. Roserade is the same effect as computer search, so.... yeah.

1. I used Bebe as an example specifically because it wasn't even just a Supporter that searches, it was also a Supporter that searches with a hefty cost. And it was played before Claydol came out, in the Absol-discards-your-hand-GG format. So Claydol is not the reason Bebe was good.

2. Before Bebe, we had Celio's, which was a staple too.

3. Random Receiver will really not be worth playing anymore once Skyla is out. If you have actual supporter options, why run Receiver? [Slight edit: Also, Receiver will still always get you a supporter. Did you mean to say card draw? Because who cares, Receiver'ing into a Skyla will still net the same overall advantage as hitting any other Supporter]

1&2: Again, cards usable in past formats did not have to deal with how insane are Pokemon ex are now, and how shallow our support Pokemon are. I'm not saying Bebe was good because of Claydol, i think i reversed what i was trying to say there. I really meant we would need a card like Claydol to turn Skyla into the heavyweight Bebe's was.

3. Random Reciever is still absolutely playable in any Dark deck. The RR comment is that people have hailed "you can Skyla for a supporter basically" which is not the case. If you Skyla for a RR and hit a Skyla, you did not really hit a supporter with your Skyla.

That said, i'm interested to see how many people flock to Skyla with the real increase in Roserade's usage. Roserade does require slightly more deckspace, and a bench spot, but it lets you play supporters and get absolutely any card. As i said, i don't beleive that our current Ace Specs will be a good Le Parfum target most of the time, but Roserade and Comp search in a deck gives you access to so much.

By the same merit, you can also use it to grab Town Bike and draw some extra cards.
