@Kayle: I looked up Pokemon Communication and it sounds exactly like Bebe's except that it's a Trainer. I might fiddle around with it but I'm worried that Vileplume/Spiritomb will mess it up.

yes, but then you can at least fight against them or make a setup.
if you can't even do that you can just give up

Trust me, there'll always be a time where you wish you had that Garchomp or Crobat, but you don't want to use up your supporter for the turn. 3 SP Radar is the way to go here.
