Now as we know, Magmortar Lv.X decks are one of the big arch-types this season. I'd like to show everyone a card that can compete with Magmortar for what is best at: bench hitting. So without farther ado, here is how Salemence (Secret Wonders) and Magmortar Lv.X stack up.
Magmortar Lv.X
Evolution Stage: 3 Evolutions, 4 if Magby is used.
Main Attack: :fire::fire::fire::fire:, discard 2 :fire: and do 100 damage to any of your opponent's Pokemon.
HP: 130
Weakness and Resistance: Double Water, ouch!
Retreat Cost: 3
Poke-Power: Induces a double power burn.
Salamence
Evolution Stage: 3 Evolutions (Stage 2).
Main Attack: :fire::fire::water::water:, discard 2 fire or water for 100 damage. (Fire=to active, Water=to bench).
HP: 140
Weakness and Resistance: The Fighting Resistance helps against Gallade, and the Colourless weakness isn't too bad.
Both cards seem balenced at this stage. Let's look at other factors.
Evolutions
Magmortar Lv.X:
Stage 1: Magmortar (MT): The amount of damage is good, the best attack if you aren't bench hitting. But not that amazing on its own.
Magmortar (SW): Also a really good Magmortar. The Poke-Body is helpful, its attacks have potential, and it can do some small time bench hitting.
Basic: Magmar (SW):
Magmar (MT) Can do an early KO, but don't count on it.
Baby: Magby (MT): Burn is always useful.
Salamence (SW)
Other Salamences: Salamence ex Good power, and mass spread of damage.
Salamence δ ex Itr can do some bench damage, that's it.
Other evs up soon.
