Thursday

So on Thursday I just flew into San Diego and hung out with people. I just spent the day trying to tweak my list and perfect it.

Friday

Friday I just played more games and watched some friends in the last chance qualifier. And woooot Amelia made it so now there were 4 washington seniors in worlds which was cool.

Friday

Today is the big day! The night before I had finalized my list so I felt semi confident. But I was also kinda worried seeing how I always bomb worlds :nonono: 2-4 in hawaii and 3-4 in orlando so I was just hoping for 4 wins this year. So on to the report!

Round 1 Jasper van Bemmelen-Netherlands national champ (Gechamp)

I set up and look at my hand. I have an Azelf LA, a Mesprit and a cyrus along with a few other trainers and energy. So I open with the mesprit because I figure that I dont wanna start with azelf and figure out that palkia lv.x is prized. We roll and I go first. We flip over our pokemon and I see a machop  so I drop the azelf so I dont get donked and look at my prizes... cyrus, cyrus, palkia lv.x, unown g, and two other cards . So I was kind of in a predicament seeing how what the heck do I get??? I finally decided to get the palkia x. I then end my turn. So the he goes. He then proceeds to get the T1 machamp AND claydol and just kill me. So now I go and cyrus for a sp radar and roseannes just to stay alive. I sp radar for a palkia then pass. His turn... He gets another machamp:eek: AND a gengar and plays warp bringing up my palkia. I scoop. So yeah that game sucked but he was cool so whatev gg man.
0-1

Round 2 Glenn Van Roey-Belgium ( rampardos)

In this game I have a pretty good hand. I go first and T1 power lock him. He then gets a turn 1 rampardos but cant attack because he started with baltoy. I then power lock him again and start attacking. The powerlock eventually gets the best of him as he cant get up another rampardos so I win. gg.
1-1

Round 3 Ong Shu Weng-Malaysia National champ (luxtric)

So when we start im thinking crap as I see him start with electrike because that can really only mean one thing. I go first (again) and powerlock him(I open with uxie). He goes drops a luxray attaches does some stuff and passes. I go and manage to get 3 sp out but I cant power lock him but I do have 3 power spray in my hand. He attempts to bright look me on his next turn but I spray. Then he drops uxie for a potential 6 I think and I spray. Oh and before the uxie he drops sunyshore which I have no counters to so im thinking great... So then he just does 60 to my uxie. I draw attach to stuff get another spray and do 20 and put the uxie down and send up another uxie. He draws and does 60 cause he cant do anything else. I draw and do some stuff like drop mesprit and put uxie down. i think I send up toxicroak. He draws topdecks claydol but hes locked so he does 60. I leap away into my hand and send up palkia lv up and do 80 to the luxray for the KO while at the same time locking him. So now he sends up a pokemon to sacrifice while praying to draw something. I power lock him again while killing the sacrifice (i think it was an electrike). He draws and sends up something else. I draw and power lock the last time and snipe the claydol. He just draw passes the rest of the game. I win 6-0. gg
2-1

So after that last game I was sweating because I turned around what is potentially a disastrous matchup. But I also know that I need a lot more wins to make cut.

Round 4 Patrik Raty-Finland (Dialga)

I cant remember too much of this game but I know that he had a semi mediocre start and I had a decent one. He just kept charging dialga but could never draw into the lv.x or anything. Once he had an uxie but I just sprayed it. Eventually I got my own lv.x out and started sniping the dialga. Then he started attacking but it was too late because i was already very set up. He eventually scoops as I kill the dialga with energies on it. gg man
3-1

Round 5 Hampus Eriksson-Sweden national champ (gengar)

In this game I had a good hand until I realized that I had ALL 3 UXIES PRIZED. So I just started powering a dialga (or palkia cant remember) along with keeping a power lock. he the goes and gets a T1 gengar and starts killing stuff but eventually I am able to kill the gengar but he gets heads on fainting spell. So at this point we both suddenly realize how terrible both of our hands and our fields are:lol:. so now we just draw pass draw pass. until like 4 turns later where I topdeck roseannes. Then I was able to set up with honchkrow and eventually win. but gg man u were cool to talk too
4-1

Round 6 Zachary Mirman-US (mirror)

So I set up and figure out my hand is terrible. And then we start and he has pretty much an amazing start with like a plkia pearl breathing along with power lock and pixie lock by t2. I dont draw a supporter til like t4 and I get 2 uxies but obviously both are sprayed. so eventually I lose but the thing is I should in theory have the advantage seeing how I ran the raichu tech and he didnt but that was prized:frown:. but whatev it was a fun game anyway.
4-2

Round 7 Aaron Lin Feng Choong-Australia (plox)

So this is it... the moment of truth. So I was hoping and praying that I would get a good hand this game. And my hand actually was great. I had a very consistant power lock and whenever he tried to set something up with energies I would snipe it with either honchkrow or palkia. But I also know he had a pretty bad hand seeing how at one point he had to start future sighting wiith ralts to set up. But eventually the sniping was too much so I won.
5-2

YES I finally made it into top cut!!! I also figure out that David and Zane also made cut so that means 3 washington people in top 32 for seniors!!! So I look at the chart and figure out that I am playing Tim Hornung.

Top 32 Tim Hornung-US (Flygon)

Game 1
So I start this game with pretty much the perfect start for this matchup, with a turn 1 honchkrow sniping everything. I was focused on killing anything with energy so he couldnt get anything charged up. I also had power lock from like t2 on. I took 5 prizes in the first five turns with krow and got the last with a palkia swarm gg.
1-0

Game 2
So this game I started with one of the pixies I think. But I have a warp and some search stuff so I eventually get krow active that turn too win. I have an uxie for like 5 an I need to topdeck a crobat. whiff:frown:. whatever. So i snipe the baltoy for 20 while making sure I have the lock. eventually I think I take 4 prizes with krow. But this is where it gets interesting as he gets a queen out and starts getting set up with his cynthias. But he was getting the worst luck at drawing so eventually I won gg srry for the bad luck man.
2-0

Sweet T16 cool so I get a good nights sleep and get back to the play area where I find out that my opponent is.... Miska Saari. Zane had lost against Miska in t32 so I knew what he was playing but its still a difficult matchup.

Top 32 Miska Saari-Finland National champ (luxape)

Game 1
I godstart him with t2 pearl breath with powerlock and pixie lock along with croak psychic and gain in my hand. gg
1-0

Game 2
This time the opposite happens where I get a terrible start and he just rips through me.
1-1

Game 3
Im sorry but this game is kind of a blur, but I azelf early and figure out I have 2 cyrus 2 gain and my psychic prized:eek:. So I try to play this game as I should but I was having trouble getting out palkia lv.x, so I lost the power lock and didnt get pixie lock out. But I was still in it but then there was a point in the game when I needed an energy gain to put myself into complete field advantage as I kill his luxray with my croak so I cyrus aaaaand *facepalm* right....my last 2 are prized. So then I just get slaughtered by a bunch of fire monkeys and what I assume to be pitbulls that ran into some downed electricity wires. gg
1-2

But whatever it was fun at least I made top 16 so no sour grapes or anything.

Props
