Shedinja Timing

If Shedinja uses Resent and knocks out the attacking pokemon, does the initial attack still go through? I only ask because Resent says:"...if Shedinja would be knocked out..."

That's just odd phrasing.
Shedinja will still be KO'd.
The attack already happened.
