Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Should I play Durant?

The can win. U just to be mindful of what the other player is playing. It's kinda like the rule when playing poker. You don't play your hand, u play the player across from you.

Is it the straight Durant decks that are winning, or is it the Durant with techs like Cobalion and Drifblim that are winning ?

They can both be good and can both win. I perfer playing Drifblim and Cobalion becuase you can win matches that Turbo durant cant. But it is a personal preferance and whatever deck suits you playing style the best is what you should run. I top decked with my Drifblim Cobalion. I was head judge yesterday where a player went 5-0 in swiss with Durant/Cobalion/Smoochum. And a Turbo durrant top cut at a different CC earlier this year in Seattle. Durrant in whatever you tech it with is a good deck and more and more people are realizing this all the time. It will keep getting more and more popular.

Don't be a jerk. No one likes playing Durant, no one likes playing against Durant. Come on dude.

Well, it seemed interesting and the players in my area seem to be completely fine with it. Not every one dislikes it you know, we all have our opinions. Not one person said to me yesterday at league that they didn't like that I was playing durant. One guy was actually somewhat happy he was playing durant.
Anyways, I went 4-3 yesterday at league with my Durant, its not completely finished yet, so I think 3 losses is acceptable. One of my losses was to Zekrom, anyone got any tips for playing that??

Run them out of Energy any way possible. Crushing Hammer+Lost Remover are your friends with good uses of Catcher. Cobalion can be a savior too if you run it.

Depends on the durant deck your running. If its turbo you need to Lost remove the Double coloress and catcher up the unpowered Zekrom.

If you are running cobalion which I strongly suggest. you can return the KO's with cobalion (this is where balck belt is so valuable). If you start to take prizes the ZPST play will be foreced to build more attackers and that will make them play thier Junpiers wich just helps you mill them that much faster. Once they have played both Pachis and Syamins then you start caatchering up the unpowered stuff and start milling them again.

@ PokemonPizzaParty - Run Turbo Durant, add either a Rainbow energy or 2 or a lightning energy or 2, and use rotom's attack to revenge KO a Zekrom. Use super rod or FSL so you can repeat the process or just use more than one rotom. You can run black belt as well if you're worried about them having eviolite.

P.S. Jand, are you a Master or Senior?

That sounds like a good idea, maybe I can post my list later today and then figure out how to put cobalion in there. Thanks.

Given that my daugther is currently enjoying her 4th season in juniors, that would make me a Masters player, Leage Leader and Judge.

A player in the CC I judged last week ran one Coabalion, but it was not enough to help him vs the ZPST he faced in T4, I would at least run 2. I run 3 and that has worked well for me.

Sorry about that, I wasn't aware. I just saw a deck very similar to yours do very well in a seniors tournament
However I saw that he started with it often, and got it stuck there for a while, and then the opponent was able to set up, and eventually lost the game.

Yes that can happen, but Cobalion will win you twice as many games as it may cost you. I try to never play one unless I am attaching an energy to it that same turn so it cant get stuck up in the active spot.

Hey guys, so staets are in about a month, an I was wondering, is Durant still viable for it? I just moved down to cali yesterday, so I have no idea what the meta is like. Thanks!

Durant is still as viable as ever. It cares not about EX Pokemon (except maybe the Reshi).

The worst matchups for Durant are the the decks piloted by best players. I don't believe Durant is a good play because it has little for a secondary game plan against someone prepared. Sure, you can do all these little tricks with Ant, but they fail to be effective versus anyone who knows what they're doing. And Typhlosion can easily win even with one Typhlosion... Just stack a few energy on one Typh and power up a two energy Outrage with 30 damage on Reshi. Either or hold a Dce to just retreat Typh. Durant is cheap but you get what you pay for. Im not convinced Durant is going to be doing well in a 6+ round states with a top of 16 or more.

What do you guys think about the new battle city promo card? I know it's a much worse version of speed stadium, but it would only help durant 99% of the time and not the opponent, assuming you don't flip tails all the time like me.

Battle city sounds good in it. There really is no downside to playing it at all. But on the other hand it seems like a secondary option to me. Averaging 1 card every two turns isn't that good compared to the shuffle draw we have.

Battle City's main draw for me is to counter Skyarrow Bridge, which can really mess up your Catchers usefulness.

Meh. I thought about Battle City but you would obviously have to sacrifice some other deck space for it. If you're looking hard for a counter stadium, it's probably your best one. Still, even though your opponent may pass on using it... it can always help them. For example, they could be digging deep for a Vileplume or something, which is a big deal for Durant.

It's only one card in the end if you really wanna use it, and it's not like there's anything better for counter stadiums. I say try it but play it smart.

I'm 0-4 against Reshiphlosion, and 0-2 against Mageel with my Durant deck. I've pretty much owed every other deck I've played with it though. As soon as they get a Typhlosion set up they game is pretty much over.

That is why I ran driffblim in Cities. Not sure about states yet though. I will stick with durant if I cant get anything else to work.
