I use Yanoman Gunmetal Black sleeves, get the ones that come in 100 ct packs. Also I like the cool rayquaza/pichu sleeves (I forgot where i got them - maybe from nationals 04?) but I heard they are not tournament legal because the picture is too complicated.

lolz everyone is forgettin about the LA sleeves ive been using them since they came out & just 3 weeks ago i finnal had to change one now there with DP sleeves

I don't sleeve my deck at prereleases. If you care about valuable cards, don't use them in a prerelease, because you don't get anything for winning anyways. This should save you several packs of sleeves.

or if your that worried about sleeves peeling at a PR why not just use penny sleeves they aren't hard to come by and still work if you shuffle your deck together using the edges as they allow the cards to slide together

Economically speaking, are the professor ones worth it? A very quick scan of ebay, and I couldn't find the Giratina sleeves, and the professor ones are at BIN for like 18. 36 ( 2 packs, since its for big events, in case one breaks) isn't bad I guess for high quality, special sleeves, but are the Giratina ones cheaper?

Hm..well, I dunno. I've definitely seen cheaper prices than $18/pack. I bought mine for like $10.00/pack I believe (prior to becoming a Prof.), and I probably wouldn't pay much more than that, but I can almost guarantee you that they're not going to break on ya.

I came into the Pokemon world at Platinum. So the Giratina sleeves were great and so were Rotom. I'm still playing with my Giratina sleeves. I really like the Arceus. I've heard they are hit and miss though. I've seem to have recieved a very nice batch. We have about 3 decks sleeved with Arceus and they are holding up well. My 7 year old can be rough but they haven't failed yet. My Professor sleeve are nice but they are a bit sticky when you shuffle them.

I've seen the Garchomps and both HGSS peel at the prereleases. I haven't played with them yet personnaly but I've seen way to many of these sleeves fall apart to invest even the few minutes to resleeve a deck for these.

Yeah, I didn't even open either HGSS PR sleeves (lugia/ho-oh or legend dogs) because I don't want them messed up after a few rounds of testing. Great for throwing in for trades though, since some people like them for collector purposes.

One thing about the Arceus sleeves was that some packs had different coloring then others. One would be a bit darker then the other. I don't know if this was a widespread problem but I'd check any you get just to make sure.

Official sleeves I like:
Rotom
Regigigas
Giratina
Arceus
Professor
Lucario

I'm surprised the Leafeon/Glaceon sleeves weren't mentioned as those held up better than any sleeves I've ever had in a while, as far as pre-release sleeves go. heck I could break those out and play with them still! I have used those like no other on my old Leafeon/Glaceon deck and they held up for the years I used them and still going. I don't know why I stopped using them, I loved them. Are the HGSS: Unleashed that bad? I haven't opened mine yet, but I plan to.

they are actually really good. people just have to high of expectations. (grave diggin ftw jking)

How are the new sleeves? I wanted to know before i use them fore any big tournaments.

One of my friends only got 55 sleeves in his pack. :nonono: So if you're going to use them then I sugest getting at leased two packs. But from what I saw they weren't that bad this time. I would say that they're in the middle between the good Lucario ones and the bad Garchomp ones.

Why is there so much interest in ranking bad sleeves? Who cares if they are better than these but worse than those? They're terrible. They peel after a handful of games and are essentially useless for organized play. These sleeves are a continuing embarrassment to POP and I don't know why they don't give the contract to another vendor.

Personally I've had a bad experience with Dragon Shield. I got the brown ones (the brown and red are supposed to be the best) and they started ripping immediately. I personally like Ultra Pro best. Most of the stuff they make now is junk, but their old sleeves are very good, and do not rip that often. They recently started remaking some of the good ones, though. To tell the good from the bad, you have to be able to feel them. If they are rough and have a grain to them, they are good. If they are smooth, they are crappy.

They look soooo cool.

They're very bad though.

I saw so many people at the PR in which their sleeves where splitting on the 2nd and 3rd rounds. They looked horrid.

I'd just sell them, and buy some better, more longer lasting ones.

I'm with you, particularly when trying to figure out what sleeves would be okay to use at "a big tournament." I mean it's fun to complain about the terrible quality of the recent prerelease sleeves and all, but why risk using ANY sleeves known to be of inferior quality for a tournament. The only rational thing to do is to just buy some decent sleeves and use those.

As a fellow Professor, I don't think this is the appropriate venue to air your grievances.

a lot of the prof. sleeves have a 'bubble' in the plastic of the sleeve that makes them unplayable and very marked.

this happened to like 3 sets of my friend's prof. sleeves. all useless
