I personally have been looking at several different card sleave's to use. I've used the Ultra Pro's before and was not satisfied with them, so I tried some of the Dragon Shild ones. I also was not satisfied with them.

The other day, I was at the local mall and came across a gaming store I've never seen befoe. I did some browsing, picked up some single cards for purchase, then found the packs of Player's Choice (Japanese) sleeves, in packs of 60. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try them and with my testing, been really proud of them. They've shown good stability thus far. All that is left for my personal testing is to take it to the league once and see how they do there.

can you tell me what store it was that sells both singles and japanese players sleves? IN A MALL?

Well, at the Knoxville Center mall (East Town Mall for us oldies), there is a store called Sci-Fi something-or-other. The Board Game Depo shop closed down and murged with that store. The store that I'm talking about is near that store, but instead of on the second floor, it's on the bottom floor. I cannot remember the store's name precicely, but it had Gaming in the name (I don't go to the mall that often since it's too far away to visit all the time). It was preaty obvious that they sold Cards.

When I say they sold singles, they did, but they only had like ten total in Pokemon. They have tons of Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering, and other game Singles; but not that many in Pokemon.

The sleaves were in packs hanging behind the counter. I asked the person who was watching the store which one would be best for the Pokemon game and he suggested the Player's Choice sleaves. He showed me the ones with the art on the backs, and I told him about the solid color rule and he showed me them instead.

yeah i've been playing TCG's for about 12 years and the best i have found are the *** ( sorry for shortening japanise cuz i'm lazy jess)KMC there cheapish and hold up great. my second when i cannot find them are players choice there cheaper than KMC but last not as long. KMC comes in 100 counts so there good for a deck and then a draft deck GL everyone finding sleaves

Sleeves ideally should be a solid color with a non-reflective back. There are some sleeves that are partially opaque and a color, those should be okay as long as there are not any distinguishing marks on the back of your cards.

The way I tell if I'm going to purchase a pack of sleeves is the light test. Hold one of the sleeves up to a light and see if it reflects that light. If it doesn't, I will purchase it. I know PUI is always looking at the way sleeves are used in events and based on the decisions that were made at U.S. Nationals I believe that this is your safest bet to having a fun-filled Worlds weekend.

:( I hope that there is someone at Worlds selling sleeves. I may have thousands of sleeves but none of them will pass that level of scrutiny.

I like max protection for Magic the Gathering and I do a lot of shuffling (land tutors he he), and they've been real good lately. am taking them to Nats if they allow me to use them. if not, there's alwys ultra pro black

The JPN PokeBall sleeves are somewhat reflective, but that's why I put my prizes in stacks of 3, so my opponent/judge can't even suspect that I'm trying to find out what is prized, I advise everyone to do that whether they have reflective sleeves or not, and to not look at your prize cards when you put them down, you can never be too safe these days =/

I still say that the best sleeves out there are Dragon Shields or Player's Choice. I've busted tons of Ultra Pro sleeves throughout the years, but have never had Dragon Shields or Player's Choice fail on me. Having said that, I DO like the Designer Series Ultra Pros, but they have images on the backs, so yeah.

do you play alot/playtest?
do you enter alot of tourneys?

I usually only get oppurtunities to playtest at tourneys =/ Thats prbably the reason. Outside of tourneys, I dont get much done.

That's the thing. If you play a lot, you'll eventually rip Ultra Pros. Dragon Shields and Player's Choice can take the abuse that an active player gives them.

solid black ultra pro are working quite good for me. they've passed 1 nationals (Magic though) and many many local tournaments, as well as everyday shuffling during goldfishing. I'd recommend them any given day.
