YTV aired the finale for this series last night and, well, maybe something got lost in translation but anyone mind explaining what the blue heck happened right as Sora got turned into that big mob and things went swirly into the real world, then crashed back into the "fake people" room, and suddenly ended there?

I'm guessing the games answer this or something, but I haven't played them, and so I'm, well, lost on this one.

? which series ending? SIGN or "DUSK"

I'll assume SIGN since you mentioned Sora.

SIGN ended with them able to awaken Aura and with Tsubasa able to awake in the real world again (that was her stepping out of the hospital, and Subaru in the wheelchair) Right before that, Sora was Data Drained by Skeith, causing him to go into a coma and be stuck in the game. Morganna then ordered Skeith to go after Aura, and manages to get into Helba's Net Slum. Helba then forces everyone to log out so Skeith can't do anything to any of them.

The way the series was ended, and the way it aired in Japan, was to lead into the first game (the last episode aired right before the first game became available). at the beginning of the first game Orca (Balmung's friend, the other Descendant of Fianna) is out with your character, Kite, who he just got to start playing(your character and Orca go to junior high together), and the newbie dungeon they go to to train you they run into Skeith chasing Aura right after they left Net Slum, and Aura gives Orca an item to fight Morganna, but Skeith then data drains Orca, causing him to go into a coma IRL. Aura then gives the item to you instead, and from there things begin.

*is currently waiting for news on the new .hack anime*

I see. I knew it was Tsukasa and Subaru in the real world, just the way things kind of went "bang, it's over" kind of confused me. They just sort of drained Sora and everything went Evangelion-like confusing and it was over.

Not very well-handled if their primary goal was to lead into the games, though. Aiyah.

lol yeah it didnt work as well here, especially because the first games were released near the beginning of the first airing of SIGN.

They also released a manga of what happend before SIGN, but I doubt it would help you to understand more of what went on at the end. Anaconda pretty much summed it up though.

novel (2 actually), not manga (dont have the 2nd one, but i got the 1st one in english and japanese), but they dont explain stuff concerning with SIGN, at least with the end of SIGN.

Yeah, novel, not manga, opps! It's found in the manga section of bookstores but it's a novel.

nah sora was still an elementary school student, so his behavior could be sort of expected.

as for a game, keep an eye out for .hack//fragment ONLINE X OFFLINE (thats the full name). it's more of an ORPG, like the way Phantasy Star Online works, but thats their upcoming experiment with the online play (and maybe they'll make a full MMO after that)

they wont be charging a monthly fee for it, which is good :thumb: but a release date for over here is currently up in the air :frown:

Trust me, you're more likely than not to get the Leeroy Jenkins type of player than the good sort of player. If you've ever played any MMORPGs you'll know what I mean—Sora is what players would act like. I even know a good deal of people who act exactly like Sora without knowing who Sora is.
