Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Sorry About All the 'CurseGar' Threads but....

No it is not the best counter but in Cursegar it can work pretty well. You could put your mewtwo on your bench, have a spiritomb active and then hope they can't kill your mewtwo.

Lol, this was my thought when I heard that Cursegar was a bad matchup for Shuppet...

Shuppet can entirely counter all setup-based Spiritomb decks with a single Chatter/Imbound lock (I myself prefer Imbound because of the energy requirements being achievable by default Shuppet energy lineup in 1 turns) not running Warp Energies and/or 2 Unown G's. As 1 Spiritomb is not enough to keep Shuppet on leash (due to teched in Regice), you will propably see 2 placed down. You should proceed to chatter/imboundlock to the first Spiritomb. Once Unown G is played down, play down Regice and Regi move. If another Spiritomb comes forward, just proceed to lock it. If anything else comes forward - well, you're free from the trainerlock altogether, or you may just double blower your way to lock the Spiritomb without G.

Spiritomb, while a greater starters of our time, has a vulnerability for the locking that should be taken in account on the Spiritomb based deck builders. Either this, or losing to the retreat lock.

The lock mentality also works best with Shuppet, as it's deemed to take some early-game prizes before being completely locked down. Of course, you should have a method to make the game last for 40 minutes even though you'll be locking every turn, but I'm sure there are cards to make this happen (Unown Z being the bad example here).

Thank God DIALGACHOMP doesnt have to worry about the trainer lock being that Dialga Lv.X shuts off non-SP Poke-Body's

Cursegar is not all about putting Spiritomb active. Yes, that's the main strategy to slow down the opponent early in the game or to fight against SP decks, but in lategames vs Flygon, Plox etc you just give away prizes. You often put Gengar SF or Mime active and not only Spiritomb.

Not just a bad matchup, but an absolute autoloss.
While Spiritomb is very effective against Shuppet, you also have Mr.Mime to stop Shuppet. Chatot lock is not a problem since you have Unown G, maybe even Warp Energy. Of course you do not have an unlimited amount of those cards, but neither has Shuppet an unlimited amount of Chatots. ;)

If I was playing cursegar vs shuppet I would keep Spiritomb active they would regimove and I would bring up Mr.mime..... you wont get to attack almost ever and unless you get lucky with a Baltoy donk you will probably lose that match.

Also good cursegar lists will have 1-2 warp energy and unown G.... Don`t expect to win via chatter locking.

Yes because you will never run into a Cyrus before they get a Stage 2 Lv.X out...

The deck usually plays a couple of Wagers. Even if you DO manage to get your Bebe's in time to get the DGX, there are ways of making sure that he goes back in the deck.

I'm not saying Dialgachomp is an auto-loss to Cursegar, but I think it's a pretty even match. They both have their ways of getting cards out, and Cursegar has a surprising amount of disruption.

True but Power Spray says hello. Even though you will eventually run out I KO the Gengar X before it does me.

I can't remember in what thread this was in but someone mentioned dialgachomp doesn't run sprays which is what I have seen with every GOOD dialgachomp list i've seen. So this quote really makes no sense to me. I think Par has a good matchup with dialgachomp because of this fact.:thumb:

I was all for running chatot and I think it could win but to be quite honest in the time allotted for these games you won't be able to get to that point probably.

I think the wiser decision (since they max out their bench) is just to run Dusclops. That way you can still get Dusknoir out in 2 turns (SW 'skull) under trainer lock. Sending back a fully charged cursegar and a claydol could be pretttty crippling if you ask me.

A good player does not just max out their bench for no reason.

you can only have 4 powerspray in a deck :p SP players are bound to run out eventually

Marley's Request FTW?

How are you KO'ing Gengar X if it goes back to the bench? And Gengar can normally scrape a 2HKO against a DGX early on, since you're not likely to have all your Special Metals yet, and Expert Belt with Curse takes care of a fair amount of damage prevention on DGX's part.
