Speed Gengar/Machamp

Hey everyone. I just registered for the Pokegym and this is the deck that I have been running for a couple of weeks. It's my second deck (my first was a basic Shaymin-less Scizor/Cherrim build).

The strategy is to basically put out a Gengar or Machamp and do what they do best. Either 1-shot with Machamp or snipe hard with Gengar.

NOTE: I do *not* own any Claydols, TSD, or Machamp LV. X or Uxie LV. X!!! Feel free to suggest them, but keep in mind they aren't practical for my budget. The only real change that I can see me doing at the moment (once RR hits my local stores) will be testing out 2 Volkner's Philosophy.

Any constructive feedback will be greatly appreciated. Now, without further ado, the deck:

Pokemon- 21
4-2-3 Gengar
4-2-3 Machamp
2 Sableye
1 Uxie

Trainers/Supporters- 27
4 Rare Candy
4 Roseanne's Research
4 Pokedex Handy 910is
4 Poke Drawer +
3 Bebe's Search
2 Night Maintenance
2 Professor Oak's Visit
2 Warp Point
1 Cynthia's Feelings
1 Luxury Ball

Energy- 12
6 Psychic Energy
4 Fighting Energy
2 Call Energy

Could you explain me the point of sableye here, please?
You can be faster if your opponent goes first, then:
-2 sableye
+1 uxie
+1 azelf
-1 Cyinthias
+1 Bebe's

With bebe's you max out your chances of t1 hit hard and if you need drawing you can search uxie.

Ah, thanks for the changes. I will try to look for those cards.
However, Sableye is my "poor man's tech" *laughs*
No other reason why he is in there, really.

I have very limited resources in terms of trading. My league is quite far away. I haven't played in any events yet.

I just started like a month ago (something that I forgot to mention).
Thanks again.

I was debating between Sableye and Farfetch'd for setting up.

Back to back posts merged. The following information has been added:

What is the point of Azelf?

Also, does anyone else have any input on this deck?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Azelf is useful because of its power. It allows you to look through your prizes and take out a possibly game-changing card out of it to stay alive. It also improves your chance to donk b/c if you start the game with a roseanne's and learn that you have Machamp/Gengar in your prizes, you can pull one or the other out with azelf and donk. If you play multiple techs azelf is even more useful because of the likelyiness of your 1-1 line being prized...

hope that helps

Zaniken: Ah, thank you for the explanation. I might try and find an Azelf or two now..

Anyone else have any other input on the deck? How does the Pokemon lineup look? The energies? Should I run more? less?

Any input will be taken into consideration..

Also, where can I go to find the next set rotation (speculation or otherwise)??
Thanks for any information you guys may have..

I agree with colts. Also I have a question. If you are playing Dialga G for example would you just focus on Machamp of would you get Gengar into the picture as well? Basically, do you have both Gengar and Machamp out at the same time at the same game. ( I'm asking this because I am trying Gengar/Machamp)

i wouldn't run gechamp, its too inconsistent and can confuse you mid game sometimes... it's prolly better to just run speed gengar with a machamp tech like 1-0-1 or 2-1-2 machamp line this way you can pull it out if you need it, but gengar will still be main focus. if you ever can get claydol definately add it here. 2 uxie work well and some form of heal such as pokehealer + or life herb.

Personally, I would obviously set up whaetver my opening hand gives me. I do tend to draw into the Gengar stuff more, though, for whatever reason >.>
I do prefer setting up an early Machamp to one-shot their basics or whatever they are setting up with.
Basically, I run this to counter the SP/G decks that are floating around my meta right now.
I would like to try a speed Gengar build, but I don't have the "staple" support that I need (such as Azelf, a second Uxie, and most importantly Claydol)

Thanks! I agree with you about starting out with Machamp. Unfortunitly, Gengar is so great only with crobat g, Cressy x etc.

I have a question..
Is it *really* worth it to Poke Turn a Crobat G multiple times just to add that 10 extra damage?
I mean, I personally don't see Gengar donking anything short of a Claydol after 2 Crobat G hits.

That's kinda the reason I play Machamp. It's to donk stuff. I feel that Gengar is best used as a backup/psychological weapon. Sure, sniping is good and fine. I just don't see it warranting 2 Crobats and a few Poke Turns. That's just me, though.

Anyone with some input on the the whole Gengar+Crobat G tactic?
