Planning on playing the game seriously again next season, so I was wondering what the staples will be?

I hate buying boxes, so eBay singles is the way to go.

Trainers and Pokemon please.

Couple of things to add are

Must Have - Professor Oak's New Theory (PONT)

Deck Dependent - Rare Candy, Team Rocket's Trickery (So annoying), Sableye SF (good starter for a lot of decks, not just Sablelock), Spiritomb AR (Vital for Stage 2 decks)

you assume wrong. Palmers is better than Flowershop because you can get any combination of Pokemon & Energy. Not just 3 & 3.

it depends on what type of deck that you want to play.
SP you need the TGI's and Cyrus.
Stage 2's Need Rare candy & Spiritomb.
Stage 1's Need BTS.

idonkedoyou is right. The staples you will need depend greatly on what kind of deck you are running. Sp needs several staples includign sp radar poke turn power spray energy gain cyrus and often times aarons collection
stage 2s will want candy bts and often ssu
stage 1's will often use bts and maybe rare candy if they have stage 2 techs

most competitive decks will run uxie and uxie x as well as pokemon collector dce and luxury ball
