Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

Starcraft 2

I doubt it's going to come out this year, honestly. We'll probably be lucky if it comes out in 2010, knowing Blizzard. =\

I'm very hopeful that SC2 is released sometime this year. I just hope my computer will have the minimum requirements to run it nicely, although if it can't run Spore, I'm not very hopeful :(. Still looks like an awesome game though, and I'd buy a new computer just for this game.

Ghost wasn't being developed by Blizzard, but some outside company. It is also the only game ever in a Blizzard series to become vaporware.

SC2 is reportedly in the beta phase, so I think it will actually come out.

Tell that to Duke Nukem Forever.

I'm skeptical too, but I'd just like to see how the plot ends. You had some fun space drama going on for a while, and the major Duran spoiler was a pretty awesome thing for an 11 year old "me" to find out about, haha.

I lauhg at this thread, because this is like the 23751938651978652987562375803th thread spread around the forums I use about this. It keeps getting pushed back more and more, so there really is no way to tell when it will actually come out. We can only assume it wont go SC Ghost

Look, there was never a release date, not even a release window. It can't be pushed back because there was never anything to go back from.

I was looking on the World of Warcraft community site and it talks about opting in for Beta testing for StarCraft 2, could this be the sign we are looking for?

Yeah, it is. Go to Blizzard.net and create an account, then go to your beta preferences and you can submit your system specs to sign up for the beta opt-in. It will be happening soon.

So am I. I say as soon as the beta starts we use this thread to get some games going! I am really excited to play with the new Zerg evolutions.

Indeed. So by your 2nd sentence, I assume you unlocked the Dark Origin level? That just left more questions unanswered, and I was almost unhappy about it =(

I did, but I was just referring to all of the new units, etc. I am really excited for the Zerg story too. Its great for a strategy game to have such a fleshed out universe. I usually don't like the Terran story, so it's kinda sad it will be the first release.

Is anyone else worried about system requirements? I have a macbook 2GHz with a single gig of ram, and I am pretty sure I need a new computer to run it. Anyone planning on getting a new computer to run this?

There aren't any yet, but I would compare the graphics to a game like Dawn of War II. Here are the specs for that game:

Minimum Requirements
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
* P4 3.2 GHz (single core) or any Dual Core processor
* 1 GB RAM (XP), 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
* A 128MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT / ATI X1600, or equivalent
* 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space

Recommended
* Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista SP1
* AMD Athlon 64×2 4400+ or any Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2 GB RAM (XP and Vista)
* A 256MB Video Card (Shader Model 3) - Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900, or equivalent
* 5.5 GB of Hard Drive space

I'm guessing here, but if you watch the videos for SC2 (http://starcraft2.com/movies.xml) you can see the graphics are pretty impressive, even for an early build.

I think I can work the minimum specs on that, dunno what the vid card is on this computer, and don't have the $$$ to get a new computer. I'm *not* busting open a laptop tablet to give it a new vid card.

I've always seen that Blizzard is very good at keeping the requirements low. Look at WoW. Its relatively modest, except for HD space. I don't think you'll have to get a 'gaming computer' or anything larger than a quality PC to run it.

Maybe not require, but it will probably run terribly on a computer with less than 3-4 GHz.

Also, the reason WoW doesn't need a very expensive computer is that it is 5 years old. Blizzard games usually need a nice computer (not a gaming computer) from the time they come out. I'm just saying if you haven't bought a computer in about a year, you might need to upgrade to play SC2 without it looking like a slideshow of your base being Zerg rushed.

Blizzard games have never required a powerful system, actually. WC3 was the first one to "push the envelope" in any way and even then... with the settings turned down it didn't need a powerful system at all. Blizzard games have always been known as accessible to the general public due to low system requirements.

I mean, look at Diablo II. It sported "cutting edge" 3dfx GLide (launched in 1996) support... in 2000. But it still had a DirectDraw render engine too.

Sure hope I meet requirements cause I don't have the money or anything like that to get a new one. Though if I do, I can just make it my gaming computer, hmm...
