Something can still be random even if you have seen it, no?

Random just means there is no observable pattern. You could memorise a random sequence of numbers, and they would still be random,.

random does not mean no observable pattern. random comes with a distribution which is most definitely observable.

if the sequence is known or predictable it is usually referred to as pseudo-random

Once you look at your deck, it is no longer "random"! You need to start over with the riffles at that point. Do you not understand "random"? It is not knowing the ordering in your deck. You destroy that when you look in your deck.

If you got nothing out of the "declump" thread, everyone agreed on this issue. (At least I thought so)

But how will I know if it is random enough if I can't look at it!??

edit: sorry just trying to add some comic/ironic relief

At the beginning of the game I generally get carried away with pile shuffling, so I usually do a 12 pile, then mash shuffle it a bit.
During the game I just mash shuffle.

Pokemon is like a box of chocolates....after proper shuffling/randomizing, you dont know what you are gonna get!

(Sorry Forrest Gump)

I just recently started doing this. It's a lot of work, but it gets the job done...

Pre-game:

My phone randomizes values 1-60 into a list (I'm a programmer, I know this is psuedo random, shut up)
I do a 60 pile shuffle in that card #1 is placed into whatever slot it was assigned by my phone

this is very space consuming and time consuming, but what this does is it ensures that my evolutions and energies are split up after a game.

Then I just do 6 pile shuffles until game time.

During game:

Riffle shuffles get the job done.
