Yesterday marked the 25th year anniversery release date of a game with two plumbers saving a Princess who always seems to be in another castle. When the game was made available to the public via the NES, myself along with other people developed cramps in our thumbs from all the Goomba stomping and turtle smashing.

So what are your greatest moments/ memories in the Super Mario Brothers games series on any system from the Gamecube to the DS, from the begining until now?

I will start.

My favorite memory is from Super Mario RPG on the SNES. Nothing like being able to combo stomp a Goomba so many times that it would make ya think that Bowser would never again employ them to do his dirty work. It really did justic against the Goombas for all the times they got the best of me in the Original game.

Ah - Mario. Other than going down very large pipes, when have you ever seen him do actual plumbing work?

My older brother got an NES while i was growing up, but i did not get to play it too much. It passed down to me when he moved out, so the first Mario game i played was Mario 3. It was not until later that i got to play the original. I remember spending a good portion of my time in the car or under the covers after bed playing my gameboy on super mario land.

My favorite (Along with many others) is Mario RPG: 7 Stars. The story was great and fun, bowser was not the bad guy for the first time, and was the first and last time anybody played as Geno.

Mario - thanks for the memories, and hope for many many more.

Basically, you miss the Mario style 2-D platformer, correct? Yeah, Nintendo was particularly good at those games.

SMRPG was my favorite, if only cuz the characters actually stood out somewhat. Would've been nice to not have the silent protagonist for that, but Mario didn't have a voice at the time, so it's understandable.

SMRPG = best Mario RPG of all time (and one of the best in general of all time). I still dislike the newer Mario RPGs because they lack the sheer awesomeness of SMRPG and try to make up for it with weak gags. Paper Mario is also a travesty of justice in this vein.

Otherwise, I remember playing good ol' Mario way back in a neat arcade at a drive-in (as if either of those 2 really exist anywhere anymore lol) as a little kid when we went up to get concessions, good times.

I liked the storyline back then for SMRPG. The graphics were pretty good for back then, and I still haven't succeeded in getting 100 jumps to get the super suit. >_<

SMRPG is a sick game. It is definitely my fav Mario game because of it's uniqueness. Paper Mario is also a good game that gradually got worse as Sequels were added

Nice to see that SMRPG has made the "top" fave so far, as it did provide some of the best game play into the Maerio scene.
After 25 years of gameplay, from 2d to 3d and across 5 home councels and numerouse GB makes and modles, it is nice to see that Nintendo does their best to make the series as fun as possable with new gameplay.
I hope ( until I am deaf and seenile ) that Not only does Pokemon keep going for 25 more years, but the Bro's keep hanging around with new stuff while keeping the old memories alive through nastolgia.
Posting in here is a small ohmage to the Bro's and there endless effort to keep the Goombas at bay and saving the day.

SMRPG is an amazing game. As is Paper mario IMO, though not the second one.
I remember for christmas when I was a 'bout 4 I recieved a gameboy and a mario game

My greatest memory is when i bought a Nintento game cube with Pokemon Colosseum and Mario Kart Double Dash back around 2003 and another favorite memory was when i got my SNES with Super Mario World (such a awesome game) back in about 2000 when i was like 5 :D

Wow. It really has been a long time.

My memory is shot so I can't remember most things from my childhood but I do remember getting an N64 and playing Super Mario 64 on a daily basis alongside Pokemon Red.

My favorite Mario game is the first Yoshi's island. I remember absolutely everything about that game. My favorite memory was seeing all 60 levels with big "100s" on them just a year or so ago. And to think the only reason I got it was because it had a "cool blue guy" on the cartridge.

My first game ever was Super Mario World but it just depresses me to play it.:frown: I turned the island brown and every thing and beat all the levels with all their goals, but the star next to my play file still won't appear next to the 96. I theorized that the fact I used yoshi's wings on two levels might be why but I went back and legit beat those levels but still no star.

Sometimes I dig out my SNES just to play Yoshi's island, Mario world or even *shudders* Yoshi's Safari.
