Swellow and drive off?

Does swellow's drive off power work like salamence, which is basically a gust of wind. Or does your opponent get to choose which of their benched is brought up. I was confused thinking that text is meant for 2-on-2 play.
 
They're different, in who gets which choice.

Swellow, you choose Defending. Your opponent chooses the Benched.
Salamence, you choose the Benched. Your opponent chooses the Defending.
