Hey, guys. Got a wild one for ya this time: T2 Bibarel
Of course it's not going to work, right? Wrong. Bibarel can be a beast with the right list, and I plan to show that here. Naturally, it's not a top-tier deck, but I'd at least like to show that it can stand up to some of the best decks in the format, and beat many others. I want to stress that it's no G&G or Kingdol, but it's good for what it is and probably the best T2 deck out there. So, without further ado, it's T2 Bibarel!
T2 Bibarel
Pokémon (8)
4x Bibarel SF
4x Bidoof SF
Trainers/Stadiums/Supporters (42)
4x Roseanne's Research
4x Bebe's Search
4x P.O.V.
2x Cynthia's Feelings
4x Quick Ball
4x Great Ball
2x Luxury Ball
4x PokéDrawer+
1x Night Maintenance
2x Warp Point
2x Super Scoop Up
4x PlusPower
3x TM TS-1
2x TM TS-2
Energies (10)
10x Water Energy
Strategy
The strategy is the same as any T2 deck; get out a Bibarel ASAP and start donking. Differences between this and other T2 decks are few and far between. The trainer line is designed for maximum power and technique with Bibarel's strengths, so it may differ slightly from other T2 decks, but the core of the deck remains the same. For instance, the SSUs are in the deck because Bibarel has high HP for a stage one and only needs two energies to attack; scoop one up and you can have it ready again within two turns. If there are any questions about the trainer line, please post and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
Matchups
Kingdra - Get a T2 Bibarel and donk their starter. Then it's tough for them to recover. If they outspeed you, you lose, but if you outspeed them, you have a shot.
AMU - Not played much, but it's pretty even.
Quickitune - Another T2 deck. You have more consistent damage, an easier setup, and more HP. No contest.
Machamp - A threat, since the release of SF. I haven't seen the 'Champ in action, but I can predict that Bibarel would do well. They have a considerably slower setup, but if they get a Machamp Lv.X out within the first couple turns, it'll be tough.
Gengar/Dusknoir - Tough to say. I'd say the match is tough to begin with simply due to the fact that losing a basic or two at the beginning of the game doesn't hurt them that much. Impossible to win if they get a Gengar out.
T-Tar - It really depends on the variant. Losing a Sneasel, Baltoy, or Larvitar at the beginning hurts T-Tar, but if they get a Tyranitar out it's game over. T-Tar can OHKO you and has a tremendous amount of HP.
Torterrible - Tough. Very tough.
Eeveelutions - Depends how many Eevees you can donk at the beginning. Call for Family makes this a tough matchup.
Any fire deck - Not at all difficult, due to your ability to unconditionally donk their starter.
Any decks I'm missing? LMK.
