T8 Masters in GA Report

Normal stuff before the tournament starts. Played a few warm up games the night before with Gigas using Sableye + Initiative, which sucked. I ended up changing decks from Flygon/Magnezone an hour before deck checks start, and run a Gardy list I threw together on the spot.

To anyone who was there, I was the black guy with the blue jacket and a yellow WWII button on my glasses.

Round 1: Flygon/Donphan

I got a T2 Gardy, and he got a T2 Unown G with two fightings and an Unown G.

1-0

Round 2: Blissey/Meganium/Togekiss

It was the strangest deck I had seen in a good while at a tournament. It didn't pose much of a threat at any point, since he couldn't really get anything going because of all the stuff he had in there.

2-0

Round 3: Luxchomp

An extremely great match played. He took an early lead, like SP should, but I eventually managed to tie it up due to Gallade flippage and timely power locks and Wagers. In the end, he topdecks a Cynthia's Feelings, and draws into the DCE he needs for the game on my Claydol

2-1

Round 4: Flygon/Machamp

I get a horribad start of Spiritomb, and no evolvable basics until T4-5, and he takes a few easy prizes due to a BTS'd Machamp. I eventually get set up, but he's got Flygon's waiting in the wings ready to sweep.

2-2

At this point, I figured I wouldn't make cut because of the two losses, so I started to feel a little depressed. Not really emo, but more like "Wha? I traveled across two states just to whiff cut?"

Round 5: Gengar AR

I know you guys are thinking that it's an autoloss, but it wasn't. I know you guys are thinking that if it wasn't an autoloss, it must have been an incredibly close game, but it wasn't. He prized both of the Haunters he ran, and I didn't. So I got to set up, but he was stuck using Trick Gas to swap to Mr. Mime. I end up setting up my entire board, Dusknoir and all using Spiritombs. Then, I just used Dark Palm to shuffle one of his Gastly with three Energy back into his deck, and used Psychic Lock on the other one

My WWII button not working. It was supposed to distract my opponents, but it failed.

 I was wondering why you had the button on your glasses all day, guess now I know. Sorry to hear about your car accident, hope eveyrone is okay. Thanks for coming out, hopefully you will be able to make it back next year.

Congrats on Top 8. Vic's Mudkip hat was cool, wasn't it? I have a picture on my phone of me wearing it.
