Well, it's December, so I guess I'll post this Christmas fanfic I wrote a couple years ago.

Tale of the Well-Travelled Mistletoe

A light snow was falling on the serene Pallet town. Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and Togepi had just entered town. They decided they'd rather be somewhere with a tree this year, as opposed to the year when they went to the North Pole and saved Santa's workshop. They also decided to dress warmly, also unlike the aforementioned year. They observed the many lights hung on people's houses. "How pretty!" Misty exclaimed.

"Tookie tookie briii!"

Soon, they arrived at Ash's house, to a warm welcoming from Ash's mom, Mr. Mime, Professor Oak, and Tracey. "Merry Christmas!" After catching up on recent events, Ash and Co. brought their things upstairs to Ash's room. Then, they brought their presents down and set them under the tree.

Then, Ash's mom went into the kitchen to start working on Christmas dinner. Everyone else sat in the living room talking about Christmas stuff. They watched as Mr. Mime hung a sprig of mistletoe above the front door.

After a while, the doorbell rang. Brock answered. There was a beautiful girl holding a package. "Delivery for Ash Ketchum!" she said cheerily. Then, sensing something, Brock looked up. Wondering what Brock was looking at, the delivery girl looked as well. There was a sprig of mistletoe. Brock got excited, and the delivery girl turned beet-red.

Wondering what was going on, Misty walked over, and saw Brock, the delivery girl, and the mistletoe. She immediately grabbed Brock by the ear. "Why don't you go help Mrs. Ketchum with dinner!"

"Ow! Ouch! Lemme go! Lemme go!"

The delivery girl let out a sigh of relief. Ash came down and accepted the package. He and Pikachu took it upstairs to his room and shut the door.

Then, Ash's mom wandered into the room, also curious about what was going on. She noticed the mistletoe hanging above the front door. "I thought I told Mimie to hang this at the top of the staircase this year. I got bored with hanging it up here every year. I'll just have to put it there myself." So she took it down, and hung it at the top of the staircase, she then resumed working on dinner.

After an hour or so, it was time for dinner. "Misty!" Mrs. Ketchum said. "Could you go tell Ash that it's time for dinner?"

"Sure!" Misty headed for the staircase.

Meanwhile, Ash had opened his package. It was a few things he had ordered for some "special" presents. He had just finished wrapping them, and decided to go downstairs and see what was going on. He exited his room, and then met face-to-face with Misty at the top of the staircase. They stared into each other's faces for a few seconds, and then looked up. There was that sprig of mistletoe. Misty looked at Ash again. Ash was still looking at the mistletoe. Misty was about to pucker her lips, when Ash said "Huh? What's that doing there? Mom usually hangs that above the front door." With that, he took it down and hung it above the front door. Misty fell backwards. Ash breathed a sigh of relief while she wasn't looking.

She then got up and told him that it was time for dinner. They went into the kitchen, and found a bountiful feast before them. They sat down and ate. After an hour of eating, they stuffed the leftovers into the fridge and then went and sat down in the living room to talk.

After a little while, Ash decided to go upstairs and bring down his "special" presents. He was just about to, when a certain trio burst in through the front door.

"Merry Christmas! And prepare for trouble!"

"And you'd better make my present count double!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth! That's right!"

"What are you doing here?" Misty demanded.

"We're here for Pikachu!" Jessie exclaimed.

"Same as always!" James added.

Then, Mrs. Ketchum looked up above Team Rocket. "Hey! What's that doing there?" Everyone looked up. There was that sprig of mistletoe. Right above the heads of Jessie, James, and Meowth. "I thought I just hung that at the top of the staircase a little while ago!" Mrs. Ketchum exclaimed. Misty glared at Ash as he fell backwards.

Jessie, James, and Meowth were staring at each other. They didn't know what to do. They knew what to do if there were TWO underneath the mistletoe, but THREE? But then, Ash's mom solved their problem by taking it down and hanging it up again at the top of the staircase.

Then, Jessie, James, and Meowth remembered why they were there. "Hand ova' Pikachu!" Meowth demanded. Just then, Ash darted up the stairs.

"Hey!" James yelled. "You can't get away from us!" Team Rocket was just about to run up the stairs, when Ash ran back down. He was carrying his "special" presents.

"If I give you these, will you leave us alone?" he asked.

They stared at the three packages he was holding. One was labeled "For Jessie", another "For James", and the third "For Meowth". They looked at each other. "Presents for us?" They considered this possibility. They then grabbed the presents and dashed out the door, yelling "Alright, but just for today!"
An hour later, Team Rocket sat in a barely warm tent just outside of town. Meowth opened his present first. "Hey! A new charm! Now I have a spare in case I lose this one!" Meowth hugged his new charm.

Jessie went next. "Hmm… A stuffed Pikachu plushy. I didn't really want one, but it's the thought that counts." She exited the tent, set the toy in the balloon, and then went back in.

Finally, James opened his present. "Hey! It's a box of donuts!" He then scarfed them down immediately and patted his belly with satisfaction.

"You coulda shared those, ya'know." Meowth said. James smiled and scratched the back of his head.

Later that night, everyone at Ash's house was asleep. They were all snuggled up tight in their beds, as visions of Vileplume danced in their heads. Wait a minute… wrong story. Anyway, the sound of hooves could be heard on the roof, but not loud enough to wake anyone up. Then, a figure came down the chimney, left a few packages underneath the tree, and then went back up. He didn't want to linger around too long and be late during his strict schedule.

Jessie awoke, shivering slightly, as she heard what sounded like sleigh bells flying overhead. She climbed out of the tent and looked at the sky. Nothing. She walked over to the balloon, looked at the Pikachu plushy sitting there, and picked it up. She observed it carefully. Good craftsmanship. Must have cost a bit more than the average plush toy. Then, she stopped shivering, took the toy with her into the tent, and snuggled up with it inside her sleeping bag and fell asleep, just barely muttering the words "Thank you, Twerp…"

The nest morning, Ash slept in. Everyone else was in the living room, waiting patiently to open his or her presents. "Misty?" Mrs. Ketchum asked. "Could you go wake up Ash?"

"Sure!" Misty headed for the staircase.

Meanwhile, Ash had just woken up, gotten dressed, and had just left his room. He met Misty face-to-face at the top of the staircase. They stared into each other's faces for a few seconds, and then looked up. There was that sprig of mistletoe, yet again. Misty looked at Ash, who was still looking at the mistletoe. "What's that doing there?" Ash asked. "Mom usually hangs this above the front door."

He reached up, and was about to grab it, when Misty grabbed his hand. "You tried that yesterday, remember?" Ash mustered a nervous smile and laugh, and scratched the back of his head. Misty leaned over. Their lips met.

CLICK! Ash and Misty turned their heads, and saw Tracey holding a Polaroid camera, a picture coming out the front. Tracey smiled.
"WHAT'D YOU DO THAT FOR?!!" Ash and Misty screamed.

"Because it would have taken too long to make a sketch!" Tracey answered. Ash and Misty immediately ran down the stairs and chased Tracey around the house, holding the picture above his head and sticking his tongue out at them. Ash's mom smiled.
