Get there early guys. From what I hear we have 20+ local players ready to snatch those promos. I'll have to check on Saturday about a modified event.

Just sanction a modified tournament through the op.pokemon-tcg.com site--if there isn't time or not enough people or whatever, then you can just delete the tournament afterwards. The main reason we want a modified side event is so we have the opportunity to raise our modified rankings. If the tourney is not sanctioned, then we can't do that.

I can't remember if there's enough time after the prerelease to do a modified event. We'll see, though.

Thanks--hopefully there will be enough time for it. Hopefully the locals aren't afraid of a little competition from the unofficial team of team whitewater (me, pokewisconsin, and rulemaster).

We only had to drive 1 HOUR to find out that the tournament was full. :fire: This was especially disappointing given that there was a NILES Tournament an HOUR the other way. Not to mention our local Crystal Lake place.

First, everyone appreciates the tournament organizors, because without you, pokemon would be just a bunch of cards. :) My thoughts are only meant to be constructive.

If you have 40 people showing up for a tournament that can only seat 32 folks, there is a problem. This is a good problem, that needs to be handled in a constructive way.

Solutions:
1. First Come, First Serve
That isn't a solution, that still means you are going to have 8 people Mad.
2. PreRegister,
Having Locals PreRegister (with Deposit) is a good idea. The traveling pokemon crew should not take a local spot, but they should not travel a distance just to find the tournament full either. You should be able to confirm with people that they will be in a tournament. No one want plan on being someplace (rearrange schedules, say no to other things, etc.) if they might not be able to play when they get there.

Again, YOSHI, Thanks for running the tournaments, I am sure it was crazy day.

I appreciate the how much tourney organizers are underappreciated.

Heh, the Niles prerelease only had 14 people. There were many 15+, a couple 11-14, and only one 10- who got the pin just for finishing the tournament. Everyone who came got and extra pack of rocket and POP plus a bunch more promos.

I knew I should have gone to Niles. Rockford was a disaster. Local players registered well before the registration time. I arrived before registration officialy started and still didn't get to play. I have to blame this one on the tournamnet organizer, who should have warned us that there was a limited amount of space (I had no idea, never been to Rockford before). I have to say this will definitely affect where I choose to play in the future. These kind of tournament organizers make me respect the good ones even more (i.e. BrokenLizard). His tournaments are the best in the midwest, and you should consider yourself lucky if you're able to go to his Brookfield tournaments. Rockford TRR Prerelease? Worst. Tournament. Ever.

Hypno, you're lucky you stayed home. It was a waste of a day for me.

Pokemon OP is going to hear about this...

Well, when I turned in my order for TRR back in September, the estimate was 12-15 local players would participate, so 32 seemed to be enough. As the tournament approached, that number grew, and I had no idea so many people would come from Chicago.

Due to a couple of wrong turns it was about an hour and a half for us--would have been just over an hour i think if we made it without any wrong turns. I just wish I knew of the limited space before hand, all I knew was of the possible shortage on the prerelease promo. Had we known about the limited space we would have either gotten there much sooner or gone to Niles.

As one of the Tournament Regulars at Tomorrow is Yesterday (the Store where the Prerelease was held), I would like to apologize to anyone who wasn't able to participate. We had a much larger turnout from our local players than we were expecting (almost 100% of the usual Tourney-goers registered... we were expecting 60-80%, due to the price of $18).

We had preregistrations in early October at the store, so 20+ of the seats were already paid for. We also keep in touch with most of the participants on my Forums, so we told them to get there early.

I think there was a lack of communication as far as knowing how many people were preregistered and were going to show up. Believe me, it was even higher than any of our expectations, and if we are going to hold CCs there, we'll need to find another location.

So, to those of you that had to be turned away, I apologize, and am sorry about that, but there's nothing that we could really have done about it. One kid gave up his tournament position so another kid that drove 2 hours could play. But unfortunately not everyone can do that...

Well, anyway, enough about that... I had a good time at the event, even though I was, like, the only one there that didn't pull an -ex or Shining :(

My deck also totally stunk, cuz I couldn't get anything really good 'cept for Dark Marowak. At least I have 4 Dark Crobats that I'm ready to do some extensive test-playing with. :)

Well, I know that I had fun at the Prerelease. All of the outsiders were friendly, which is a huge relief to everyone, and they'll definitely be welcomed back.

Wow.

Nobody once mentioned that.

Just because you post something on your private boards doesn't mean it's going to be seen by everyone attending the tournament.

Yoshi didn't once mention that it was possible to pre-register. He posted the tournament information on the OFFICIAL Pokemon OP site which stated that registration began at 12:30. I arrived at 12:30 and did not get to play. Yout CANNOT have a select group of players secretly pre-register ahead of others so they are guraunteed a seat. Your TO is in dangerous waters if he continues to support this behavior.

If you guys do decide to run a City Championship I would suggest having it at a store with a larger capacity. You could easily get 50+ players if it is on a day that does not conflict with another CC.

In the future plesae post all tournament information here on the Pokegym. It is the most visited site for Pokemon tournament information next to the official site.

For one, the TO did bring up the fact that they'd be accepting "pay in advance" registrations to yoshi1001 via e-mail. He didn't say anything about it. I'm not a TO, nor am I the one who suggested to run it at TIY, I'm just stating the facts. There wasn't any "secret" conspiriacy going on.

The posts on my Boards also were only to remind people to come, and the time (in which I was under the understanding that the event started at 12:30, not 1:30, but I was a bit out of loop anyway). Preregistrations weren't done through that, of course. We told them to get there early because sometimes our players have a habit of arriving at the last minute, and we wanted to remind them not to do that. I don't need to go into this any further.

Every week for the past month we have been reminding people to preregister at our Tournament and League. Is it the TO or my own fault that we don't visit the PokeGym that often? No.

90% of all our people were all there early anyway because they stayed through the Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament, so most of the preregistration really didn't matter anyway, seeing as they were early.

I'm still sorry that there were any problems, regardless of who was at fault, if anyone.
