Texture Magic and Lost Link

Okay, so I was posed this question by someone, and I do not know the answer. This is a scenario set in Unlimited. They were talking about a scenario where they would use Mew Prime's Lost Link ability to copy Cool Porygon's Texture Magic. Since Mew Prime has no Resistance, would Mew Prime be able to use Texture Magic to give itself a Resistance or can it only use the effect of Texture Magic that changes the Defending Pokemon's Weakness?

The effect is there, but since Mew has no Resistance, it has no effect on its status.
