The Apprentice (think Trump)

Anyone watch the live finalee tonight? I'm a fan of the show and I've been watching it quite a bit this season (albeit sometimes reruns on CNBC). Mr. Trump picked Randal, in my opinion the clear winner, however The Donald had some tricks up his sleeve. Since Rebecca was a very strong player as well, he asked Randal if he should hire TWO people instead of one, and Randal told him that there should only be one Apprentice! Basically he just TOTALLY C-blocked Rebecca's chances of getting a job with the Trump Orginization on live TV! He got quite a few boos from a crowd that was heavily in his corner.

Just wondering what your opinions of Randal's play are. I don't know if I have the guts to basically shut down someone on live TV like that, its a pretty cold move!

One Apprentice my ***, he's like the third one. I thought he was the most qualified, but he lost a lot of points from me for that little manuever. I hated how that was done in all of the last minute of the show, so there was hardly any reaction except for the mix of applause and boos from the audience.

True.

But after a bit of thought, don't you think Trump put Randal in an unfair position? Never have two apprenctice's been choosen in the same season. Randall won.

The Apprentice is a competition just as much as it is a job interview (if not moreso), would the Super Bowl winning team share the lombardi trophy with the loser because they 'tried hard'?!

No IMO

I remember seeing a preview that said Mr. Trump had some "big twist" or something in store for us; I suppose this was it. However, Randal foiled that. Mr. Trump didn't seem to be too faded by it, because he seemed to accept Randal's choice.

Besides, why should Randal have to share the limelight? He was the clear winner, he killed it from the start to the finish and even Rebecca couldn't come up with anything to say about him negative. Its his moment, let him have it to himself.

Regardless of whether or not I think it was a good play or not, I still don't know if I could have shot Rebecca down like that on live national television. It took some CAHONES, to say the least.

Bottom line..it should Trump's place to offer a 2nd job to the runner up, NOT Randal's choice! I think Trump put Randal in a no win situation bc Randal basically had hammered away on Rebecca as being a lesser choice between the 2 of them and then Trump asks him if she should get the 2nd job (since she had selected the other job site). This would never have happened either if Rebecca had asked for the same assignment as Randal. She was at least smart enough to take to take the other option, since Trump said the choice MAY influence WHO he picked.

Sometimes in business and life, tough calls have to be made. I think Randal won bc he was a tougher, more experienced businessman and he made to call.....one winner on the show. They all knew that when they signed up for the show. (Not much different from the 15+ Grinder @ Worlds 2K5...8 guaranteed spots, only 8 given!)

ya, right after Randal did that, me and my brothers were like "ooooooooooooooooooo that was COLD" I thought randall was better and I was glad he was hired, but I think it should've been Donald's decision whether or not to hire Rebecca. Randall couldn't really say yes, after all that, it'd be like admitting he was wrong. That was pretty funny though, he was like "it's the apprentICE, not the apprentI" or however u would spell it. ><

I disagree.
She shouldn't have been offered a job at all IMO, there is only 1 winner, and for Trump to want a 2nd job, he obviously liked her. But there is only 1 apprentice of him, only 1 winner, for Randal to have to "split" winning isn't fair for him, when he was the clear cut winner.
And I don't know how he could even think of hiring her when she went 1-2 as a leader (as you've hear dfor the millionth time) and raised NO money in a fundraiser? How can Trump even think she would be good enough for him after a horrible preformance like that?

Its probably in Randal's best interest to not give her the job. Also, by their quick responses I'm pretty sure they were told a) what the two jobs were and b) probably if the other should be offered a job in advance to the show going on air. They would HAVE to tell them about it in advance, its live TV and they can't have dead air while someone sits there and ponders a HUGE decision for like a few hours (cmon you can't make that choice after seeing a 20-second clip about the project).

Randal obviously made the choice he did so that he'd get 100% of the publicity, 100% of the credit, etc, for his work. Mr. Trump can go and hire Rebecca to do the job if he really wants to; this is real life, not a show. So basically Randal saying there should only be one Apprentice essentially ensure's he gets all that's coming to him, unshared, and then if Mr. Trump REALLY likes Rebecca as much as he implies, then he can hire her to do whatever he wants after the show.
