OK, before a lot of people go ???? with respect to Metal Energy...

The following was true:

Metal reduced the damage done by a non-metal pokemon attacking with metal energy by 10.

Metal also defended the pokemon it was attached to by 10, no matter what the type.

So a Chansey attacking with Double Edge (80 to your opponent, 80 to yourself), with one metal attached would do 70 to the defending Pokemon (80-10) and 60 to itself (80-10-10)

Chansey with 2 metal attached would do 60 to the defending Pokemon (80-20) and 40 to itself (80-20-20)

Add in the Unknown N, which reduced attacks from a Normal type Pokemon, I believe by 20 (may have been 30), then when Chansey attacked with 2 metal attached it would do 60 to the defending Pokemon (80-20) and only 20 to itself (80-20-20-20)...which start to be VERY good for a 120 HP basic.

Igglybuff is there to SHUT DOWN Slowking. Turn off those powers so you can use trainers.

That is about it!

Chuck can give you more details...but that briefly explains PART of the deck!

Strategy of Chansey was pretty simple: Build a Chansey with Recycle's and Metals, and dominate. With 2 Metals on Chansey and an Unown N in play, Chansey would be a 120 hp Basic that did 60 and 10 to itself while reducing the opponents attacks by 20. Add in Gold Berry, Healing Fields, and Acoop up, and you have an unstoppable beast that's not going down. Obviously against the 70 HP basic decks, you would only go 1 Metal, but in that case you're still doing 70, and only 30 to self. The deck only had 2 weaknesses, Murkrow and Pokemon Tower.

Against Slowking/Murkrow, you could not bench an Unown N or else it would get gusted, lassed, and mean looked for game. Chansey was also vulnerable to mean look as well if they had enough energy removals. Most Slowkings teched an Erika's Perfume too, which lets them look at my hand and bench any basics I have, so if I ever got caught with an Unown in my hand, it was getting benched and locked.

Pokemon tower was even worse than Mean Look though. With that in play, your recycle energy stayed in the discard when they got removed. Also, you werent allowed to play item finder. It's almost impossible to function in old unlimited without recycle energy. The card was broken, and I was actually glad that they made a card to counter it, even though it hurt my deck :(.
