The Farfetch'd Evolution Engine: Feedback

Deck Knight

New Member
I've been looking over the new Stormfront cards and a good engine for early game occurred to me,

Cards:

Farfetch'd SF X4.
Luxury Ball x1
Marley's Request X2
Rare Candy X4

Can be used in any type of deck, for non-evolution decks, drop Rare Candy.

Basically you want Farfetch'd to start off every match so you put in 4 copies. Use Go and Collect to search for Luxury Ball. When you want to retreat Farfetch'd, you'll have enough energy to.

Next turn, Go and Collect Marley's Request.

On your third turn, Marley's Request for your Luxury Ball back. Play Luxury Ball.

Given that your starting hand and subsequent draws contain any of Luxury Ball, Marley's Request, or a Rare Candy, you can have any Stage 2 set up by T3. Any Stage 1 can be set up. Next time you use Marley's request, you can pit Rare Candy vs. Luxury Ball for fun and profit.

Otherwise this provides a probable good startup for any deck, and is especially useful for decks where the main line of pokemon have high retreat.

That seems like alot of work for what Jirachi can do with no energy or trainers in the same amount of time. Plus you don't have to worry about Kabutops.

Jirachi eliminates your regular draw (you place the card at the top of your deck) and can't go on the offensive if necessary. It's also dead weight after searching in any deck without metal energy, As long as you're searching for trainers, Farfetch'd is a better draw. You net a searched card and your regular draw every turn.

is your regular draw really worth more than a T2 claydol? and frafet'd marleys seems slow as it takes 3 turns to get 2 pokemon nd 4 to get a rare candy..... sableye can also do this better: auto go first , can abuse wager, T1 roseannes T2 bebes for T2 claydol and can hit for more damage if you tech in a basic dark.

If you really are worried about your draw card throw in a few Amulet Coins with your Jirachi.

Hmm, can Jirachi put the 2nd Poe Drawer directly to your hand T1 so you can get the additional draw card? Does Jirachi grab that Candy to go right in hand to give oyu the opportunity to draw into another the next turn instead of the one you already had but put back? And the last item, can Jirachi be splashed in any deck and do damage as a nattacker ot help get things going? Now Jirachi can put that Pokemon right on top for you, or that energy you need, but Fetch can get that Luxury Ball for the same poke now taking 2 cards out of the deck and still allow you to draw thinning things even further. Is Jirachi good, sure if you like losing the thinning aspect and drawing cards. But Fetch is just a better overall attacker and can thin the deck faster.

As for Sableye, she is a nice little critter! I do like the opportunity to go first.. but if she is the only poke, please don't run into the T1 Kingdra.. Fetch can take that 60 and have the 10 leftover... sure they can Buck's, but that is a rarity in most T1 Kingdra on the first turn! Sableye does thin for you faster so that is a bonus and on the chance of the other player not using Sableye, you can get ahead.. kinda! Definitely can go for the Wager, but why give your opponent Card advantage at the end of your turn if you lose!

Fetch is just a Great starter with a nice damage attack! The engine above is interesting, but too many turns will have passed by the time you did several of these! More often than not, Fetch will get to attack twice, and that is about it!

The positive on this whole hting is there are so many possibilities for starters again which to me shows a healthy environment! The fact that this is what we debate over otehr things is a breath of fresh air :thumb:
