Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The iPad.

I definitely don't think this is something to buy to replace your computer. Why not get a netbook or a different tablet pc? You can't do flash on this, nor can you run multiple apps, which may be a problem.
I head one of the points of pride was youtube, so I would assume it can do flash.

Also... yeah, only one thing running. Which seems really weird and arbitrary, because behind the scenes, many things are running. Will something go critically wrong if two GUI items run at once? Will X11 crash? Will having two youtubes cause embarassing errors?

ipad definitely does not do flash. Adobe is pretty mad about it as well: http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplatform/2010/01/apples_ipad_--_a_broken_link.html

Originally I was intrigued enough about the idea of the ipad, but as I began to consider the fact that it is either a bulky ipod touch with 3g or a big iphone with no phone, the appeal was lost to me. You might as well buy a laptop and a 3g usb dongle- you'll have more functionality out of it and it won't cost nearly as much.

I kind of like it. I was going to get the 64 gig one. The only thing is it will cost 600 bucks. I already have a iPod and a Netbook. the standard cost of it is 499. That's really high. Plus you have your choice of 'iPod' version or the 3G version which will cost 30 bucks a month for internet. No contract as far as I understand.

Its a really cool thing and Macintosh is doing a good thing but their products are too overpriced. Most people who own iPods and laptops would be turned off from it. if you ask me, I would not pay 499 bucks for 16 gigs of flash memory. I'll get a laptop with everything that can do.

I say, just stick to the iPod or iPhone if you have it. The iPad is too early to be released.

Eh, just a larger iPod touch. Doesn't even bother incorporating Flash for browsing, which sucks alone given this thing easily can cram whatever specs you need for it. $200+ more for a larger Touch is kinda lame, and whoever thought it was gonna cost like $1000 is pretty dumb.

It is pretty much useless. Just another high-priced apple product going off looks alone, imo.

I would rather just buy a small laptop and not look silly pulling one of these out in public (oh and I like doing multiple things at once).

Yeah this does not beat a netbook, you can also get a nice hp 14" which is perfect size, compact, lightweight, but without the pretentious design.

Maybe the ipad is just an itouch for old people

The thing you guys are missing is, unlike the ipod touch which is $50~150 more for size upgrades, this one goes in increments of hundreds.

Largest one exceeding $800.

Really, now. $800 for an iPod?

Yeah, very creative. Looking a lot like an iphone but larger may not be the best idea.

However, the fact it is pretty cheap is OK for once. It may not have the biggest screens, but it certainly is very comfortable with traveling as it seems. At least you can connect it to your Computer. It's also fine that you can read books of it. That I like!

Will I really get this? Who knows. That may depend, but a miniature computer with a touchscreen keyboard looks tempting though.

The bold describes a tablet pc.

Does this mean that the iPhone is the iPad Nano...

Best line ever! (replace iTouch for iPhone though)

Do not see a real need for it unless you are in big business, just seems to be in between an iphone and computer.

They designed it for the opposite reason - for people to watch movies, play games, listen to music and read books. Its for the consumer rather than big business

Eventually a product like this will be a must have... but that's when ebooks reach critical mass. For now, this is completely a so-what?

Teo things it can be used for Pokémon though:

1) A nice card database (I say this about everything though)
2) A TCG simulator. Touch screen is just more natural for moving cards around

No amount of shiny, simplistic anti-aliased design will mask the sheer amount of disappointment nearly all Apple products cause me.

True, most Apple products aren't exactly the best of their particular subcategory. However, they do tend to force the market to improve simply because they're popular.

Sorry Steve, the Netbook is superior.
They have keyboards and more processing power at half the cost.

Another way for Apple to make some cash.

It took me over two years to 'get' the iphone... but it is the best consumer phone, hands down.

Apple is the best at one thing...

The iPhone's superiority via market saturation is debatable though.
It doesn't allow true multitasking, typing speed is still limited by the touchscreen interface vs. mini qwerty (don't get me wrong -- it is the best on-screen keypad), it is still a service-lockdown device (with AT&T in the states), and finally, the operating platform and available applications are tightly controlled by the MFGer.

As a device, I think the Palm Pre is superior. As a platform, Android is definitely gunning for most widespread adoption.

Perfect, my feelings exactly, iphone/itouch great, actual mac computers are outrageous I just don't have $1,400 to spend on a $600 computer.
