Pokémon TCG: Sword and Shield—Brilliant Stars

The LCQ - Why, Nintendo?

And having too few players to have a legitimate cut doesn't cheapen it?

As I said, this is off topic!
If you want to start a new topic on why the LCQ should give out invitations to fill every open seat at Worlds, start that topic.

That is NOT this topic.

Further discussion of THAT topic in this thread will be deleted.

speaking as a player in the LCQ who received a bye round 1, then lost round 2, I had alot of fun in my 1 round. Every year I go to the grinder, and every year I fail to achieve the prize. I knew the risks of the SE tournament, and ultimately was eliminated.

My opinion is that the SE aspect of the grinder is one of the best moves that P!P/Nintendo has made. Reasons include less turn-around time the farther the tournament goes, more rested judges for Worlds day 1, less time organizing the tables for worlds day 1, among other things.

As a player, I applaud the decision to make this a SE event.

The only downside of this is that it lessens the chance to play a foreign player in the LCQ, but thats why we have open gaming/8 mans.

1. The topic is about why the switch to single elimination in the LCQ is bad.
2. The reasons for why the switch to single elimination in the LCQ is bad are numerous.
3. One of those numerous reasons the switch to single elimination in the LCQ is bad is that it AFFECTS THE WAY THE MAIN EVENT IS RUN.
4. How the top cut in the main event is decided is directly related to how the LCQ is run, e.g. whether it is swiss or single elimination, as that determines the amount of slots open to grant, and THAT affects the total number of players for the main event, which affects the top cut.

How in the world is what I was trying to discuss NOT on topic?

You can delete whatever you want. It doesn't make the discussion any less topical, or relevant.

It would be relevant if Pokemon made a practice of normally giving out invites to fill out every seat and they stopped because of the format.
That is not the case.
