The NickName Thread: Decks and their names

Please help out our community by helping to create an index for Deck Nicknames so people will know what decks they are reading about in other threads.

Example: "Ross," "The Truth," "ReshiBoar," "Tyram"

People who post and read a lot know these decks but others who log on and off with non-frequency may feel as if they are out of the loop.

Please name a deck and give it's main attackers (and brief strategy if you wouldn't mind)

Example:

"ReshiBoar" - Emboar (ability) and Reshiram.

Strategy - Use Emboar to load energy onto Reshiram and attack for 120 every turn. Ninetales is used for drawing more cards.

"Tyram" - Typhlosion Prime and Reshiram

Strategy - use Typhlosion to load energy onto Reshiram and attack for 120 every turn. What makes this deck better than ReshiBoar is the flexibility Typhlosion prime gives for attacking options. Typhlosion can attack and knock energy off of the opponents pokemon OR Typhlosion's power can add damage to Reshiram to fuel an Outrage attack. Also, energy that goes into the discard pile only gives the deck ammo! Sage's training is a common supporter used in this deck.

Any support you can give to this thread would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

There are several varients based of this deck, called "Ross"

What it is: Zekrom/Donphan Prime/Reuniculus/Blissey Prime

Strategy:

Pichu and Collector to fill up the bench. Build damage on the bench using Zekrom or Donphan Prime to fall behind in prizes by spreading damage and knocking your pokemon out (if they play the Twins Engine) and use your Twins to set up Vileplume and Reuniclus. Suicune Entei Legend to help the "Tyram" match-up.
Zekrom can be used to take the final prize with Outrage. Blissey Prime is a tech to heal damage counters without discarding energy. The Ross' deck plays Tropical Beach.

"Cappucino"

Zoroark (BW) / Cincinno (BW)

Strategy: Get a full bench ASAP and attack with Cincinno, or attack with Zoroark. Zoroark's first attack should be used to set-up in some cases. Zoroark's second attack can one-hit KO a Reshiram or a Zekrom with a Special Darkness Energy. This pairs along with either Ninetails (HGSS) or Weavile.

Vileplume/Lilligant /Sunflora/Pichu, I don't know if there is a nickname for that.

"MegaZone"

What it is: Yanmega Prime (TM) and Magnezone Prime (TM?)

Strategy:

Plays 4 Judge to abuse Yanmega early game by using 4 energy attacks and slowing set-up, while Magnezone Prime sets-up for late game. Also plays Jirachi.

"LostGar"

What it is: Gengar Prime/ Mew Prime/ Mime Jr./ (Slowking HGSS maybe?)/ Lost World

Strategy: Get six of your opponent's pokemon in the Lost Zone and then play Lost World to win the game.

Goth Lock

Main attacker- Gothitelle

Strategy- use gothitelle to deny your opponent trainer items while you can still play yours. Reuniclus is a supporter allowing Gothitelle to stay healthy. Without a Black Belt or a way to place a counter Gothitelle is hard to knock out. The deck may also feature a Dragon to take damage and a back up hitter with Outrage.

KEVIN

What it is: Durant

Strategy: Mill 4 cards from your opponents deck turn one and from then on out, make your opponent lose by having no cards in his deck! You never do damage, only use Devour from Durant.

Support: Rotom is used so you can pull much needed Durant's or Durant out of the prize cards or grab resources you may need.

Why do I call it Kevin? After Kevin Durant the basketball player, he is good but will never win anything important, he is fun to watch, which watching your Durant's eat away the other team is fun!

Deck: BearPlume.
Main attacker: Beartic(#30)EP
Support: Vileplume UD
Strategy: Get Beartic up so he can stop your opponent from attacking, Vileplume is in the deck to start a trainer lock, which prevents cards like Switch, Junk Arm, & most importantly Catcher. Vileplume forces your opponnt to waste energy im order to retreat their active pokemon

From what I remember, Prime Time = MegaZone.

There's also MegaZorD = DYZ. It's the name for the very specific Stage 1 build of Donphan, Yanmega, and Zoroark. The basic strategy is to beatstick with whatever you can get going the fastest.

There's also MewBox, which is essentially Mew Lost Zone with a bundle of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokemon with cheap attack costs. Standout TecHs include Muk, Jumpluff, and Cinccino.

MagneBoar -> Magnezone & Emboar

Strategy:
Use Emboar to attach a lot of energy quickly, then burn them with Magnezone, which also helps to draw new cards.

Popular support:
Rayquaza & Deoxys Legend ("RDL") to finish the game by taking two prizes in one shot.

Trivia:
It was one of the first popular decks in the new format. After it has been played less for a while, it made a great comeback by winning World Championships in Masters. With the release of Emerging Powers, it lost the tier 1 status because it has problems with both Pokémon Catcher and the rising trainer lock strategies.

Lanturn/Yanmega a. k. a. Yamato.dec

Strategy:
Similar to other Stage 1 decks, but Lanturn is able to KO Reshiram, Typhlosion, Donphan and a lot of other Pokémon. Yanmega serves as a cheap and quick hitter like in most other decks. Works a lot better since Pokémon Catcher released.

Popular support:
Zekrom as alternate hitter, Bouffalant to counter Zekrom (pre-NV), Shaymin, Pachirisu or Jirachi

Trivia:
The deck has been used by the famous Japanese player Tsuguyoshi Yamato to grind into Worlds. After EP, the deck got even better thanks to Catcher and has been successfully played at Battle Roads in some countries and regions. However, the release of Eviolite made the Zekrom matchup terrible for the future.

There's also MewBox, which is essentially Mew Lost Zone with a bundle of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Pokemon with cheap attack costs. Standout TecHs include Muk, Jumpluff, and Cinccino.
And if you run it with Vileplume, you can also call it MewLock. ^^

Shouldn't we put down some kind of guidelines as to how we name decks in the first place? I remember 2-3 years ago when it was more common to come up with fun or cool names instead of this horrible merging of the main Pokémon's names. Seriously, who the hell came up with Reshiploshion? It's long, hard to pronounce and sounds absolutely horrible. Tyram sounds a lot better (although not exactly epic) and is short and nice. I know names of the decks really doesn't matter but for those of us who want a little more from the game than just winning it can be cool to come up with fun names and possibly also theme songs. I loved playing Hurricane partly because the name was epic, 100 % fitting, and I could sing Scorpions all day while beating my opponents to a pulp with my first ever competitive deck. When GG came along I stuck with Hurricane simply because it was so fun playing it, and even though I got crushed at my first nationals I had a lot of fun with the deck and am glad I stuck to it.

Some of the guidelines could be something like this:

- It should be easy to recognize which deck you're talking about from the name (makes fun names harder)
- Short
- Easy to pronounce
- Ability to stick with people

Guidelines could be separate for fun decks and simple recognizable names, but I think this is a good starting point.

I'll try and come up with a cool name for Electrode Prime/Cobalion/Kyurem, because I don't like CEK and no mix-up of the names will ever sound good. I think.

Cobalion / Kyurem / Electrode Prime = CaKE .... that's awesome!

I'd throw in ONE random absol prime to start and help with spread damage JUST to justify that nickname
Well, could go with CoKE, since Co is the beginning of Cobalion, but CaKE is just more amusing.

^
The CaKE is a lie, bro.

Donphan/Dragons (a.k.a. DonDragons, DnD, DD, or D&D) : Donphan Prime, Kyurem, Zekrom, Reshiram

Strategy: Get Donphans out as soon as possible, disrupt your opponents field with Catcher, and take early prizes. Get some of the Dragons (Zekrom, Kyurem, Reshiram) on the bench and with DCEs on them, so you can power them up with the EQ knockback to hit for large amounts of damage lategame.

Other techs: Tornadus is another good and fast attacker. DCL is sometimes used against Gothitelle decks. Zoroark is commonly used against other dragons.

ChandyPlume or Friends.dec

Strategy: Setup Vileplume and 2 Chandelure and use chandelure's ability to spread 3 damage counters to your opponents pokemon.

Techs: Dodrio UD to bump retreat down, Blissey HS for healing.

Other tricks: This deck runs no energy! Also can be played with no vileplume and a heavy switch line. The main problem with this deck is that it really needs tropical beach to run correctly.

To OP: Can you please incorporate the responses in your original post, so that it would be easier to keep track of all the names.

BTW, I prefer "Reshiphlosion" to "Tyram". The latter makes me think it is a Tyranitar deck for some reason.

ZPST:
What it is: Zekrom, Tornadus, pachirisu and shaymin
Strategy: Usually donking your opponent the first turn by getting a Tornadus or Zekrom out turn one and charge them up using pachirisu and shaymins power.

Murkey Bacon-oil, occasionally A.K.A. Cake: Use electrode prime to power up kyurem and cobalion to stall/spread damage.

murky is misspelled, but its not my fault that there's an "e" in kyurem.
