The official all year around NFL Thread - Superbowl & Offseason

Eh, everyone knows they didn't have much chance of advancing beyond R1 anyways with Schaub and Leinart out...but yeah, a loss to the Colts is pretty embarrassing.

Are you guys not realizing how tough playing divisional matches are? I don't think the Texans are done. They have a chance. They clinched the Playoffs, with the amount of injuries the team had faced to this point in the season, was it really worth chancing the remaining players health for a first round bye? Since they won the division, they earned home field advantage for the Wild card round at least. I don't doubt the Texans still have fight in them. Like I said, rivalries or divisional matches are always tough no matter who the team is.

I made this prediction without a moment to think.

Houston if they face a team with a decent defense, its going to completely shut them out.

Ravens, Jets, Steelers, all 3 will walk over Houston.

That could of very well happened in the playoffs even if Houston was healthy.

Houstons only chance of survival is draw up AFC West Winner and a WC like Cinci.

Which in the AFC, is crazy enough to happen.

No matter how you look at it, even if it's some divisional game, losing to a previously 1-13 team is pretty dang sad...seriously...not to mention it was still their game till they committed all those stupid penalties on defense that could've been avoided to hang onto a win.

And yes, a R1 bye is something I'd think Texans should've aim for, even if it was pretty much out of reach once Schaub and Leinart went down. Just as much as divisional rivalries allegedly being tougher, home field advantage allegedly would also help a lot, not to mention that's an extra week then to rest players if you so choose.

The Jets won't be making it into the Playoffs. If they do, that's really unfortunate for our league. They won't be lasting much longer.

I don't think Houston would struggle against the Ravens or the Steelers all that much because Houston's D is good enough to shut both offenses down.Though, Pittsburgh at home could be a scary thought for any team.

I think we going to end up seeing an oddball win the AFC, whoever wins the AFC is likely going to get destroyed in the SB.

in years past you got an idea who could win the AFC, this year........not so much.

I still don't get all the Jets hate personally, I like the personality and swagger Ryan brings; is it really that bad to be a loudmouth if you can back it up? And even if he can't, it's funny to me when it blows up in his face. I mean, 2 AFC champ games in a row is a pretty good accomplishment, not to mention revamping a poorly performing team into a contender.

1. He's a Dolphins fan, and obligated to hate the Jets.

2. I've come to the conclusion that he hates any good/decent team in the AFC because his is so horrible, due to the HORRENDOUS statements he makes. The Texans wouldn't struggle against the Ravens or Steelers now? You know... the Ravens that creamed them earlier on in the year? The Steelers lost to them earlier, but this is NOT the same team at all. The Steelers would RUIN what ever is left of that rather sad offense.... There's no other explanation, because it's not possible to be serious about these statements. It's just blind hate...

That's not it at all. Well, number 1 is, but I speak profoundly of logical football. Look at the stats. The Texans offense didn't get them this far. It was there defense. They've been "off and on" on Offense so far, you'll see what I mean. The Offenses of both Pittsburgh and Baltimore aren't too much better than the Texans at the moment. Aside from that, the Texans defense is highly underrated. I'm assuming you guys weren't watching many Texans games this season, were you? Which kind of makes sense from your statements. Personally, all in all I give the Steelers a 70-30 chance over the Texans, and the Ravens a 65-35 chance over the Texans.

As far as the Jets go. The way Sanchez played today, was how he's been playing most of his career. Enough said. If the Jets didn't have Mark Sanchez, then... I mean, they may end up going somewhere. But until they get Sanchez out of New York, Rex Ryan should keep his mouth closed. He's not like his brother over in Dallas, that's for sure.

Another thing having to do with the Colts, is that they're not necessarily a bad team themselves. Without a QB that can control the clock, assist there defense and maintain the possession and flow of the game, any team will struggle. I don't exactly understand what they saw in Painter as there QB for so long through the season, but they needed more. They won't be finishing as the last team in the league. They won't be getting Andrew Luck. Though, this is just my prediction. But if they do, it'll definitely be interesting to see how it pans out for them.

Lastly, in regards to you constantly making false statements about the Dolphins. Have you seen any of the Dolphins games as of lately? Late in the season they began to look like a Playoff caliber team. They're nowhere near as bad as you think they are so I don't exactly even know where your statements are coming from... I'm beginning to think that your statements alone are blind hate because some of the statements you say are honestly just blindly jumping on the assumptions of statistics and others instead of thinking realistic football, coaching, etc. You need to research more into the NFL, quit underrating teams and looking at stats. It's a professional sport, anything can happen and the sport goes beyond the stats and record books.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The only statistic in football that means diddly is wins and losses. The rest means nothing.

This only shows me the kind of outlook that you have among posting things. Now I understand where your viewpoints are most of the time and why you post some of the things that you do. I guess everyone has their own outlook, points of view and opinions and I respect that, but football goes much deeper than records and statistics.

Lions in playoffs first time since 99 baby

At the moment they're the 5th seed and with the Falcons loss tonight, it appears they'll stay that way.

Think the 49ers will be overthrown by the Saints next week for the first round bye? Is it a possibility with the 49ers playing the Rams?

As for the Lions, they play either the Cowboys/Giants. I think they're both bad matchups for the Lions personally. The Lions won't be lasting long without much of a run game and a predictable young passing offense. Gotta give them credit though for making it this far. Who knows, maybe they'll be the Seahawks of 2012.

In Breesus we trust? Definitely a big record breaking Marino's, and he has another week to add a nice cushion to it if he so wants.

I dunno, honestly it's just as likely the Panthers could give the Saints troubles as well, if not more trouble, Rams are just bad all around and the Niners defense can easily stuff Jackson and win with their sluggish offense, but defensively the Saints could be giving up a lot of points to Cam Newton and it could force a shootout. Either way, both teams will likely be using starters the whole game as they both play in the same time frame, so it's not like the Saints can wait to see the other loses and go for all in it, or if they win to just rest their starters if the other team has won since it'd be impossible based on tiebreakers. Realistically, the second seed is the Niners' to lose; they play the far weaker team after all.

I'm sure that upper management in the booth keeps analysis on other games around the league to notify the Coaching staff on the field, though. After all, they their headsets linked to the Coaching staff who is also linked to the Quarterback (and Defensive Captain).

Well ... It's a sad occasion for me.

The RAMS went down in FLLLAAAAMMMEEESSS this season man..

W O W!

It looks like we will be seeing an overhaul with the firing of the GM, Head Coach , and staff.

Spags is going to Philly (speculatively) to serve as Def. Coordinator

We're lookin' at Jeff Fisher right now ...

BUT ...

I HAVE TO COME IN HERE AND SAY ...

I TOLD y'all not to sleep of the 49 ers!!

That's like .. the ONE thing I got right before the season started, but I did pay attention to the upgrades they were doing preseason.

Did Philly ever dig themselves a hole this season, especially when you promote a guy to oversee a defense when he has no experience at it, that really backfired.
