You have noticed some changes in the site! Here are some highlights of those changes and a peek at what is to come. You'll find some neat new features, a way to get your experiences and expertise out on the front page. I'll tell you where to report the glitches you find.
What's Going On?
The PokéGym and Compendium websites are being unified and given a home page with news and featured articles contributed by forum members and the TC staff. In the process of making that change, we went to some underlying technologies that will provide a solid foundation for even more resources and features related to the Compendium and TCG strategy in the future.
Home Page and Member Contributions
The big feature push of our initial upgrade is to create a home page for both sites and provide a way for YOU, the members, to contribute more prominently on the site. You are able to contribute feature articles and news write ups that will share what you know on the front page of the site. For more information see your submission guidelines in the new PokéGym Featured Content section of the PokéGym HQz forums. The system has been arranged such that we can allow HTML code in the articles, which will allow illiustrations and other enhancements to your content. The staff greatly look forward to this new feature and YOUR articles and news stories.
New Look and Update of Compendium Site
Another goal of our intial update is the revamp the Compendium site to unify the look of the pages there and make the content easier to find. At our 'go live' we're about halfway there and the old Compendium site remains in production and accessible at the old address. However the meat of the site, the Compendium and Compendium EX are hosted under the Compendium link in the header. Once the transition is complete, we'll begin working on features such as automating the production of a PDA version and making the online version searchable, etc.
Other Improvements
We have member polls for the Gym and the Compendium. We have some preliminary new graphics and more on the way. The home page provides more information and quick access to your PMs and Buddy lists. And there is still more to come in the near term, including an eBay-style trader rating system for the trading post.
Glitches
Change is hard, even good change. When there is a lot of change, such as we have here, some of the hard part is the goofs or glitches. We still need to fine tune permissions. The smilies got "put in the blender" and I have to sort them back out. You'll find some rough spots & we're counting on you to let us know. If you find something that doesn't work, please report it in the bugs and errors thread in the Random Topic Center.
