Tom Be Swift

I thought it might be cool to try out "Tom Swifties" here. They don’t necessarily have to be Pokémon related, but I think that it could be interesting to see what you can come up with.

What’s a Tom Swifty? Here’s a quote from Mark Rosewater, who explains it pretty well, from his column "Making Magic."

Mark Rosewater said:
"I can’t brush my teeth," Tom said aimlessly.
"I was born with only two ventricles," Tom explained half-heartedly.
"I just love hot dogs," Tom said frankly.

In case the examples aren't clear… A Tom Swifty is a quote (always attributed to Tom) in which the content plays into the adverb (and sometimes the verb) that’s used in the sentence. In addition, the quote should reflect the word choice of the adverb & verb. If Tom is speaking aimlessly, for example, the quote should sound aimless.
Let’s try one; see if you get the hang of it.

"It’s best to use that card when your opponent has a bunch of Pokémon out," Tom advised.

Another!

"There are many coin flips in this game," Tom said randomly.

One more!

"That new Machamp is a great card," Tom said slowly.

Have fun.

Note: The point is to use Tom!

"This is insanity," Tom said quickly.

(Eh, it's a joke about an old, fast deck, for all you young'uns out there)

"I love caterpillers," Tom wheedled.

(5 Whose Line is it Anyway? points to whoever gets this one ;))

For that, I shall sing the Weedle Song! ("Weedle Weedle Weedle, the bug with the clown nose on..."). With that said...

"I'm acting like such a robot today," Tom droned.

"I shall now draw two cards," Tom billed.

Billed: tr.v. To declare or describe officially; proclaim.

Hmm...fast-like? Quickly perhaps?

"Will we both fill our bench or will I draw two cards?" Tom challenged. No really Tom just Challenge-d.
"I'm rubber and your glue what ever you say bounces off me and sticks to you." Tom metronomed.
"I don't know what happened." Tom fabled.
"I'm out of here!" Tom retreated.
"My deck is better than your deck." Tom poked (Poke'-d)
"Only if I could draw a better picture." Tom sketched.

"This skillet is just too old." Tom panned.
"I swung the bat as hard as I could." Tom fanned.

Note: You should be using a verb or adverb that is usually used to describe the way someone says something.
"dryly" above works because you would say that someone said something dryly.
Some of the others above that just take a word associated with the card being mentioned and adding "ly" or "ed" to the end of it really don't work.

For examle, If I posted ["I'll draw a new hand", Tom oaked], that would not be a good Swifty since no one uses "oaked" as a description of people's speech.

On the other hand ["I'll draw a new hand", Tom professed] would work since you could use the word professed to describe how someone said something.

Got it?

"Zombies ate my brain," Tom said absent mindedly.

[Billed: tr.v.To declare or describe officially; proclaim. I'm covered.]
