Top 4 City Championships Report

Well it was the first CC in BC so I was pretty excited. I woke up really early because I had to bus to Port Coquitlam, where it was being held and this is NOT in Vancouver. So after the hour and a half bus ride there I find the store closed (dejavu from BRs). Soon the organizer showed up but still no store owner. At last when registration is suppose to start the owner shows up and lets us in. I quickly get my deck organized and get the cards I need from others. Arceus999 was playing Lutions, Po-po-pochama was playing Dusknerd, and Lucario-Master was playing Kingdra.

So here is my Magmortar/Heatran list:

Pokemon: 18
3 Magmar MT
3 Magmortar SW
1 Magmortar Lv. X
2 Heatran LA (Fire)
2 Heatran Lv.X
1 Palkia MD
1 Palkia Lv. X
2 Baltoy
2 Claydol
1 Azelf LA

Energy: 14
13 Fire
1 Multi

Trainer/Supporter/Stadium: 28
4 Bebe's
3 Roseanne's
2 Rowan
2 Cynthia's
2 Marley's
4 PokeDrawer +
4 Switch
2 Night Maintenance
2 Premier Ball
1 Luxury Ball
2 Stark

I did a lot of play testing with this before the tourney and the list looked solid after several alterations so I was confident playing it.
Everything went smoothly until registration. My deck had 2 Japanese Heatran Lv. Xs and I used an English one as an outside translation however the organizer for some reason said I cannot do that and that I had to play an English one in my deck also that before every match I would have to show my opponent both the Heatrans (English & Japanese) and make sure they understand what it does.

I felt a little annoyed by this but eventually I forgot about it.
Okay without further ado here is my match breakdown:

Round 1: VS BYEEEEEE
NO, I was not happy about this because if I lost next round I would have squat for resistance.

1-0

Round 2: VS Tangrowth/Sceptile
I was happy when I saw my opponent flip over Tangelas, however I COMPLETELY underestimated it's first attack. I had a decent start with Magmar and Heatran out early in the game. After I had Claydol out it just started to get really frustrating I was playing 4 switches, ALL of them were used up in the first 6 turns there goes my Heatran Lv. X strategy. He also finds out that ALL of his Treekos were prized. We were tied for prizes for a while until I got lucky with Torrid wave making me ahead by prizes and eventually time being called.

2-0

Round 3: VS AMU
He sets up really fast and I also got a good start. But he was way to fast. He got an early Supreme Blast on my Hearan Lv. X and KOed one of my Mag X's very early in the game. I also remember him Koing some other Pokemon with Zen headbut. At this point in the game i started feeling really sick as in throwing up kind of sick, but I remain quiet and in pain. Somehow i pull off a miracle comeback with another Magmortar set up and getting really lucky with burn checks (once again). My head was still spinning and trying to comprehend how I went from being 3 prizes behind to a tie. Right then time was called, he had Palkia out and I had Mag X out. Next prize card was taken by me after getting YET ANOTHER LUCKY HEADS with Torrid Wave.

3-0

Round 4: VS T-Tar
This was one of the two T-tar lists being played in masters. He had a good set up I guess I had a okay set up but most of this match was a blur but I remember that I lost horribly.

3-1

I was disappointed and still feeling very sick for some reason I went to eat with the others even though I didn't feel like it. I thought I might not make top cut because of my bye and my last round loss. But surprisingly I made it in! Btw this was my first Premier Event Top Cut so yay.

It was Top 4 best of 3 for Masters.

Top 4: VS T-Tar (Go figure)

Match 1: I get a really good start as does he and I get som early KOs in as does he. We were tied for a while before he started powering up his T-tar like crazy as I Cosmic Powered. And I eventually decked out. >.>

Match 2: Ugh he won somehow.

Plusles:
MAGMOTRAIN
Keyvan and my Gliscor
Good tourney
Top Cut
Didn't face Kingdra

Minuns:
SICK
Garbage pulls from prizes
T-Tar (lol)
Some misplays
Long bus rides
Japanese cards? Yeah, whats wrong with them??

^Why would he do that, it's in 2 weeks lol

Anyway, great job on your first top cut!
Hope you can go to Victoria

Of coures t-tar is going to beat magmortar.t-tar has olny one bad match up i have seen and it is "kingdra".
When i won i was undefeated and beat two magnezone decks and a dusknoir/froslass. maybe your list is slooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwww!

Untrue.
T4 for this tourney was Kingdra, Magmortar/Heatran, and two T-tars, T-tar ripped through Kingdra.
The speed of my deck had nothing to do with the fact I got horrible luck, in fact I made sure this was faster than the old version with like 2 switches lol.

But yea I didn't lose to T-tar because I was slow.

LOL, yea Lv. MAX will be fun to play but no idea what to take out >.>

yeah magmortar is slow, even if i am unlucky i still beat kingdra somehow with t-tar and when i get my ususal set up with t2 t.tar, claydol, and weavile, I usually win so speed is what you need

HE WAS NOT OUT SPED. He had awful luck in that match, his Magmortar list is one of the fastest I've played agaisnt, it did a great job with matching agaisnt Scizor and all that speedy Jazz, just not Kingdra and btw why are you bragging about your T-Tar?
