Hi, my name is Raymond Cipoletti and i currently have 35 CP. I have not used my account on the gym in at least a year. This thread or whatever is just going to be a tounament report on all the cities in the new England area except for one, which i beleive was cherry valley and i couldn't get a ride. I decided to write this because i was talking to John Chimento (Johnny blaze) and he was saying that people from here were posting less so i thought id write something up. Now to the reports!
The first cities I attended was in Hadley Mass. It felt more like a battle road due to the lack of attendence for masters (low 20's) and there only being 5 rounds. However only a lot of dedicated players from NY and NH/ Mass area go to Hadley because its so far out of the way. So this being the case i knew i wouldnt be getting any free wins aka people not plying tier 1 or 2 decks. I decided to play reshiphlosion because i had played that deck at regionals to a 23rd place finish and preceded to lose to the mirror match in t32 off of not going first and a horible start in g3 either way i didnt mind my finish and though the deck only needed a few tweaks since NV came out. Now im not one to give decklists out but i will say that the main cards i added from my regionals deck were 2 eviolite a rocky helmet and super rod. My 1st round was a blur but i knew i won. Second round was against Derek Distler on tzps and preceded to get donked. guess thats just part of the game though haha anyways the next round i played against kyurem with plume and feraligator. I remember it was very close but i pulled it out in the end with a combination setting up b4 plume and many,many blue flares and outrages before he could glaciate my typhlosions to death. the Next round i played john chimento on goth....and i didnt play bellsprout... but i was very lucky this game and he had a gothita prized and could never get 2 gothitas down at once and i had the catcher chain to kill all his gothitas. Later in the game he tried alast ditch effort of getting 2 rainbows on a kyurem and glaciating but i wasnt under trainer lock thus my one of plus power got the job done. The next round was against the mirror match and i won the die roll... gg In top 4 i played against Nathaniel Lawson who was playing tzps. He donked me g1. I won game 2 very easily and game 3 i had 3 cyndiquils prized :nonono: i played for though and managed to make it a typhlosion due to him wiffing on catcher. I came back and the game ended with us both having one prize and me having no deck and needing a fire energy.... that doesnt really work so i came close but nope Nathaniel preceded to lose to dylan lefavour in the finals.
The next weekend was a bit more exciting. Saturday was in tewksburry mass. The swiss rounds were kind of a blur but i played reshiphlosion again just adding druddigon and a rocky helmet. The only memorable match of swiss was defeating dylan lefavour in swiss while he was on megazone. My top 8 match was against a good friend named Tim Lalonda who was on lanturn. He started cleffa g1 i went plus power junk arm beat GG. He steamrolled me g2 and g3 i was able to kill all his lanturns b4 he could kill all my typhlosions. it was close but i got there. The top 4 was pretty awsome it consisted of Gino lombardi, Alex Frezza, Dylan bryon, and myself. Now i had pretty even matchs agains everyone excluding dylan... who was on ross.dec. With my luck i played against dylan and he got the lock very early g1. Game 2 was very long and rough but i was able to overload him and win before ESL could kill me. Game 3 was also quite close but we went to time tied in prizes and he had ESL so he just bursting inferno'd for game. Another 3rd place! Dylan Bryon went on to defeat Alex Frezza in the finals
The next days tournament was held somwhere in RI and i apoligize but i cant remember where. This whole tournament is pretty hard to remember but i was on reshi AGAIN haha i figured id play it untill i won one or didnt top. The swiss rounds were all pretty basic and i went into top as 1st seed. Unfortunately for me Dylan Bryon was 4th seed. We both hadnt changted decks.... The same basic thing happened again and in one weekend i played dylan 7 times (i lost to him in swiss in tewksbury and this tournament) He won again so congratz to him for winning back to back cities :thumb:
Now this is the third week of cties and its in my home town of londonderry NH and its at the game castle ( a very quick drive ) I knew id be able to sleep in so i stayed up late and woke up at 10 and almost missed the tounament! but i made it on time and was able to get in! Swiss again was kind of a blur but i X-0'd it again with the most memorable match being againt dylan lefavour again except he was playing ross and i wasable to take full advantage of a slight missplay and flare destroy all his energy and eventually we went into sudden death and he didnt have any energy in his deck or field so he scooped. Later i played him in t4 where he learned from his mistakes and 2-0'd me likea boss! chalk up another third place with reshi! 3-4 of my losses came from ross so somthng had to be done!
Sunday right before the tournament i decided to finally add bellprout and another rescue energy which worked out for the best! I was able to X-1 swiss pretty easily losing to eelzone on time with him having no hand shuffle and 2 cards in deck. That day i played dylan Lefavour yet again on ross. However this time i was able to win by KOing my cleffas and other basics while KOing his things denying him twins by afterburnering killing babies and basics ofmy own. The deciding factor ended up being me using bellsprout tobring up vileplum and him not being able to use twins and wiffing on DCE to retreat. t4 time again! my first top 4 match that day was against DURANT! practcally an auto win if i get a decent start. I got a decent start. starting with cyndiquil both times and t2 candy phlosion flare destroy and with a little bit of tails on some crushing hammers tht was the match! My top 2 match was a bit more difficult. G1 he took his last prize with 0 cards in deck... sooo closee games 2 and threei targeted down his elektrik and he had super rod prized so he ran out of energy! #winning :smile:
4th week of cities: saturday was a fairly quick drive as well but i woke up on time and ready to play! I had finally won with reshi so i decided to give it up to a friend to play and i played ZPST. in swiss i got 3 donks out of 5 rounds.... i was dared to ask someone "DID YOU HAVE FUN?" after donking someone but i didnt have the heart to be that much of a jerk so i just walked away whenever i donked someone. I would advise never to say good game if you donk them because it wasnt... you just got lucky! I had no memorable rounds of swiss or close games i X-0'd swiss without really having much fun.... in top 4 i donked once and got a fast start g2 vs. Eel zone and ended up winning 2-0 My top 2 match was against donphan and dragons.... i hadnever played that matchup b4! seemed like this could actually be a game!.... sadly it wasnt.... g1 i started bellsprout he started phanphy i had no support he went t2donphan kill... g2 i had a fast start and killed all his donphans with tornadus and then he had nothing else really since hed only gotten to earthquake 3 times... i won that game easy. game 3 i started bellsprout and same thing that happened game 1 happened again... i didnt have supporter t1 but he didnt have donphan so i lived to topdeck a collector.... there was a point where if i had topdecked energy i could have mounted a=somwhat of a comback but that never happened and i lost pretty easily... I had little fun playing TZPS so i decided i wont be playing that again!
Sunday i had deck troubles and the person i let borrow my deck didnt give it back.... aand i wasnt playing tzps again because my brother wanted to play it. Luckily my friend Tim Lalonda lt me borrow his lanturn deck :biggrin: I preceded to make some chnges and play! round one i faced eelzone and lost fairly hard haha starting to not like the deck so much.... r2 i played against my friend Jamie depampolous (deff spelled that wrong
) he was on ross aka my auto win! i got 9 energy on the board and preceded to one shoteveything.. because this wasa 5 round tournament i knocked him outta the tournament... g3 i played agains someone with some random deck and destroyed them.... r4 i played against derek distler on ZPST and he had an ok start. he set up some zekrom i set up some zekrom and we preceded to bolt strike many many times all the while him wiffing catchers for my eels so i was able to continue my stream of zekrom and he eventually ran out of energy and scooped! r5 was against the person i had played inthe finals the day before again on donphan and dragons. I was lucky and he got a no supporter for 2 turns start and i crushed him. top 4 iplayed against dylan lefavour again... on ross :biggrin: i set up get 9 energy on field he scoops this happened both games essentially. The key here is to just have thunderus active and set up while each turn you are using charge for more energy.both games my thunderus had 5 energy on it on the bench. You also NEVER take a prize untill your fully setup or unless they start taking prizes. Denying ross acess to twins is a pretty good stategy. My top 2 match was against durant. G2 he milled me....obv!!!!! g3 i got a zekrom active no bench and i just set it up and won with a couple crshing hammer misses g4? i got thunderus active charged then KOd a durant ftw! that was fast! But i have to explain G1 and why g4 i only took 1 prize to win. during g1 the durant player played colllector did a lot ofthings got a lot of things discarded then N'd... we both shuffled our hands into our deck.... DOUBLE GAME LOSS! he had 2 durants prized as well :/ o well i still won :thumb: a doublt game loss r1 means that if you both win a game after the double game loss you go into sudden death which is what happend. Another 1st place :smile: :smile: :smile: :smile:
