Latley I havent been able to sleep. I don't know if it's just my summer break thing or it's just me.

Usally I come home around 11 or 11:30. Take a shower. and then off to bed at 12. I usally lay there intil around 3 or 3:30 and then I just give up. Then I ussaly stay up intil 10(AM) and then finnaly fall asleep intil 2.

But the positive side is that I nearly tested all the decks and ideas for BRs!

So anyway I need tips on falling asleep becuase I start school on the 10th and I need to start a good sleeping patern. Thanks

Close your eyes and lay perfectly still. Take deep cleansing braths and focus only on reflection in whatever thoughts you may have--not the future. Listen to calming music if you have it.

Go to sleep 1-2 hours earlier every night and your sleep cycle will set to whatever you end up at.

So, if you start school in ten days and want to move your sleep cycle back... 14 hours, then sleep 14/10 hours earlier every night for 10 nights and you will be at midnight sleeping time and have gotten there naturally and comfortably.

Don't drink any caffeine hours before you sleep. Don't eat or exercise before you sleep. Try to read before you sleep. Turn off as much light as possible.

Try meditating. I do that when i want to go to sleep. Its hard to explain how to do it, so look it up on wikipedia

i too am a insomaniac and haven't slept more than 4 hours for 3 years but i dont go round tired the whole the day.

tips:
don't play video games or go on phone for 1 hour before bed.
dont drink caffeine before bed
read bfore bed
sleeping pills r a last resort but they make you feel dizzy and uncomfortable
quietly listen to music whilst in bed (mozart not linkin park!)
get the right temperature, different bodies have different sleeping temps.
dont be scared or worried about anything if u need to talk to someone about being scared then dont be embarrassed but if you get embarrassed then hey why don't you just post ur feelings here in the random topic center no one really judges and u probs will never meet them!

last but not least

RELAX!

hope these help remember different people have different techniques.

Read a book. Do something non-electronical. It makes you really sleepy....

I know it's hard to give up electronics before bed, but hey, you wanna sleep this is how you do so.

Try not taking a shower before you go to sleep. Wenever I take a shower it wakes me up so maybe you're having the same problem.

Really? A hot shower gets me tired. Just stay away from the computer, and take a hot bath. Don't talk to anyone as well, it makes you more active.

I'm starting to have problems sleeping too. I'll usually sleep one night or so, and then stay up until like 4 AM the next night. Try sleeping with an extra pillow beside you. It always seems to help me.

Yeah, finding that right temperature is important. I like a cool temperature, with cool air blowing on me, but a warm temperature under the cover. I guess, best of both worlds.

to tell you the truth, being on the gym right before i go to bed makes me not tired, just thinking of new ideas and stuff

i try to keep my room cold (as in 69 f) I'd go lower, but you knowwwwww. The cold usually makes people tired.

ive had that problem many times.. its really quite simple to fix. Just takes mental strength and will.
You say you stay awake til 10 am... well next time dont do that, stay awake the WHOLE DAY until like 9 or 10 pm (a decent time to go bed) . Tell everyone around you to not let u sleep before then and dont sit on the couch or bed cuz you WILL fall asleep lol. go out and do something and just occupy the day, walk around, tire urself out even more. When you get home at 9 or 10pm you'll be dead tired and wont have a problem sleeping. Tell your mom to wake you at 7 am or whenever you think is decent and make sure no matter how tired you are that u wake up! then later that day you'll most likely fall asleep at regular time. Again, tell your mother to wake you up at a time you think is good and stay up like you regulary would and I bet once a normal sleep time comes in the pm you'll be able to sleep (your schedule will be fixed!). Hope this makes sense! Becuz i always mess my sleep schedule up and this fixes it easily. =)

I also have trouble sleeping, and suprisingly, I found this: when you're tired and you decide to stay up instead of relaxing and going to bed, your body becomes more awake, and you are now hardly tired at all.

I'v had the same problems. My solution was to wake up earlier. In the holidays, i went to bed 1-2 at night and woke up 10-11 in the morning. I started to wake up like 7-8, do some training, be more outside and at the end of the day, i was exhausted and i fell asleep before 12 at the night.

Maybe you should work the night shift like me =)
If you have luke or cold showers, thats your problem right there...save them for the morning....

personally I really enjoy my late night runs....go run 3-4 miles or until you can't push your self anymore and that should tire you right out! It so peaceful at night, at least where I live....

Some light exercise 2 hrs before you plan to go to sleep will help a lot. Go for a nice jog or do some sit ups and curls, and you should feel more sleepy. You could also try a cup of "sleepy" tea. Most supermarkets sell a form of tea that makes you relax.
