Originally known as "Lady Gaga and Lucky Cabbage in 20-10 (Tucson CC 7-0 Luxchomp report, plus lolz)"

I will start this report by saying something special to someone very special.

Dezzy ilu.

I was watching Martha Stewart on New Years Eve-day (Thursday?). Don’t hate Martha’s a genius. A woman from the audience said something about eating cabbage for good luck on New Years Day. So I decided to make egg rolls the next day and they were almost too good.

Also on New Years Day I had to convince Desmond over 9000 times that it’s faster to go on the 60 so I can get a ride with him. Mapquest is not as smart as a native Tucsonan when asking for directions, sorry. <3 dezzy

The night before the tourney (Saturday) I rebuilt my old MamoswineGL deck. I had originally planned to go with--and eventually ended up playing--Lady Gaga. DESMOND tried to convince me to play the swine. It’s very fun and seems to be consistent; I could usually get some attacker out within the first 4 turns, and enough times to be competitive a turn 2 or 3 Avalanche. ‘Tis an amazing feat for such a big swine.
However I was expecting a ton of Dialga. I didn’t feel like coming up with some horrible excuse of a tech to cover up the fact that Second Strike will ALWAYS ko a Mamoswine. I shuffled it up and I was just getting bad start after bad start.
I ask pinata aka Jeremy J (#3 in North America!!) for a list but he never sent it to me. Ur lucky it was such a good football game.
Thankfully he already had one built when we got to Amazing. We made a few tweaks. I will not give away the list. If u r curious about the list pm me, it’s nothing too special tho. But I will say this. 2-2 Luxray 2-2 Garchomp is the way to go. I decided to take out the tech AmbipomG for this and I loved it, although most ppl watching my games said it would have helped out a lot.

I play a game with my boyyyeeeee Jacob against his Dusknoir just to get used to the Luxchomp list. I will admit his Dusknoir was a little...unconventional. But boy did I ever crush it. After my 4-turn prize-taking frenzy he scooped. I’m glad he ended up playing G-dos with Blower+ instead. Sadly he went 3-2. Don’t worry little buddy. We’ll stump em with our secret deck for States, promise!

After that game was the first time I lost my phone. I looked all over the floor for the darn thing. Desmond’s remote keys to his mom’s old minivan confused me. I couldn’t open any doors to look in the van. After round 1 we search the van and there it is by my seat. I’m so stupid. dezzy ilu so much

Enough rabble. The tournament. Biggest City Champs yet in Tucson, go figure. Ended up 4 players short of top 8. That made me wear my sadface from the get-go. 5 rounds, top 4. Here we gooooooo

Round 1:
JEREMY MARRON wants to battle!
JEREMY sent out Unown Q!
MITCH sent out Uxie!
...
Uxie used Psychic Restore!
Unown Q fainted!
...
MITCH defeated JEREMY!
JEREMY: “Oh nooooo...”
MITCH wins epic States 09 T2 rematch!
JEREMY also dropped BOATLOAD OF CONFIDENCE.

Would you like to pick it up?
>YES
NO

In other words...I go first, attach Call and donk Unown Q. IDK what it is but I always manage to donk high profile players while I’m on an undefeated run...if Hatter counts as one of those :p jk ilu
W 1-0

Round 2:
At first I admired the kid’s courage. He played Luxray AR and I was expecting cooler things to come out of his deck. But he found out that you can’t search for or discard TMs as though they were tools, which lead to the revelation: “If I knew that I would have played Bebe’s instead.” Not much to report; I sac my first attacker to a Gadget Bolt to set up a 2hko then he never sets up another. He did surprise me when he Roseanne’d for a Rattata, but I Bright Looked it right away.
W 2-0

Round 3:
Silly Sam. Playing GeChamp + Spiritomb and various other techs.
I keep him on defense the entire game by KOing an early CrobatG and Uxie. He massively misplayed a game-changing Rare Candy, Take Out play (he even benched Machop and Rosy’d for Fighting!) by sending out Spiritomb. I of course Bright Look and ko the Machop. He gets 1 Poltergeist off but not much after. Power Spray his Uxie, snipe Claydol, bla bla bla.
W 3-0

Lunch.
Eegees. Is. The. Best. Sub. Place. Ever. They have these amazing. fruit. slushies. They change the flavor every month, this month is Cherry Pineapple. And of course ranch fries and giant thin mint cookies. I’m drooling now just thinking about it. Tucson knows their food. Just like their traffic directions. :p (ilu dezzy forever and always)
The usual Richard Chobomelon gang (fancy new name I figure lol, hope u guys like) of Jeremy, Desmond, myself, Justin, Piggy, Robert and Dustin all get pretty much the same things. The usual madness ensues when 7 teenage boys consume delicious greasy sugary food. So sad there is no Eegees in the Valley -___________-

After we get back from Eegees was the second time I lost my phone. LOL. I realize that I don’t have the phone on me so Desmond and I run back out to the car to find it just like last time. But it’s nowhere to be found. I give Desmond a good scare when I say let’s drive back to Eegees to find it. But then I stop being stupid and check my OTHER pocket. <3 dezzzzzzmond

Round 4:
Justin “Noob” Schandle, playing D-chomp. He went undefeated at the last CC with pretty much the same list. Desmond and Jeremy kept telling me how bad the matchup was for me. I respect them as players but IMO they are wrong.
We both have HORRIBLE starts. I don’t draw a Cyrus til turn 5, and he can’t fire off a Deafen or find a 3rd SP for his Sprays. When he does decide to start setting up he made the mistake that cost him the game. Thankfully I drew my Cyrus in time to get some Sprays, which led to him being stuck with 2 Uxie, Azelf LA, and Claydol on the bench. I just keep KOing his 5th and 6th Pokemon to keep his SP count at 2. Dialga can’t beat Gaga without Sprays.
W 4-0

Round 5:
Joey! My blue-haired friend. Hope u enjoyed your plain jane turkey-cheese sandwich from the world-famous Eegees. Funny story. We both decided to play wacko decks at the last CC...he played Cthulu (Octillery/Floatzel/Staraptor) and I went with...Medicham. He got last place, but I only finished 1 place higher than him.
He played Mother Gengar with techs. From t1 on I had to deal with an army of Spiritomb which was annoying but not impossible. This was a very close game. I almost had the game once but it slipped away from a misplay; he had just a Nidoqueen with no energy and Gengar X with 3, and I was going to double snipe the Queen for the win. Unfortunately I forgot to play the Turn to make that legal. I got a couple turns behind in the attacks I wanted to use, which gave him time to set up a couple more attackers.
I set up a trap to foil his Level Down/Compound Pain tricks and to constantly abuse Bright Look and Dragon Rush. Came down to 1-1 prizes after he made the play I was dying for him to make with Compound Pain. After that I can’t remember exactly what happened but I won. Very close and gg sir.
W 5-0

FYI Jeremy Marron really did show up at Amazing. He’s been in hiding concocting the next evolution of stall decks to tilt the noobies with and showed up today with Glistomb. Sure enough every match went to time. I guess the opponent clinched it in round 5 to make him 6th.

Top 4:
ROBERT. You are one crazy child. He plays Gechamp with SSU. But for some reason I always just pwn Robert when I play him in Top 4. Just like at States.
Game 1: This was a very long drawn out game if I remember correctly. We went to 1-1 in prizes after going pretty much back and forth the entire game.
Anything after this was too funny for me to remember. Robert is a character. All I know is that after flipping all the tails for all the SSUs during the match, the one time he flips heads on SSU. You guess.
W 6-0

Top 2:
Justin with Dchomp again. I take deep breaths and tell myself I can do it. I’m in a great mood cuz I’m seeing ppl I used to play at FNM with that I haven’t seen in 2+ years since I moved to Tempe.
I do not want to divulge too many details on how I won this because I know how you are Justin and I do not feel like starting a big long argument about who made more misplays. I will say that it was a very fair 3-game match that ended mostly because we defeated ourselves. and I’m glad I was the only thing stopping u from a back to back Cities win, with a deck no one had faith in to beat yours in 4 very close games over the day. Very GGs sir.
W 7-0

Go figure. I eat cabbage on New Years Day for good luck and I go undefeated. For reals, no 8-0 then lose to donks garbage like Regionals last year. Maybe Martha really is a genius.

Time for PROPS AND SLOPS!

Props::
:Lady Gaga. Without the deck this report wouldn’t be possible. Though I think the name is a little old. I prefer Luxchomp. Or White Tiger, Frosted Flakes, Plain Jane, Turkey and Cheese. Whatever floats your boat.
:DESMOND. I cant thank you enough for the ride. And the epic cookie of win. Its so awesome u can drive now, just be very careful. Always stay away from angry rednecks with pickups.
:Jeremy, for having the deck pretty much ready to go. You are #3 for a reason sir. The deck is so easy to play it almost felt like it was played for me. Must be something magic in those gold sleeves. I hope your hard work this season finally pays off for a trip to Hawaii.
:All of my opponents. You were all great sports. Even Jeremy Marron I think. However the round 1 donk was amazingly ironic which made me feel great. I’ve had a great laugh about it.
:Trish for running a smooth event as always. I pulled a Spiritomb out of the packs u gave me for delivery fee!
:seeing all my old friends from FNMs past. Including 1 kid who I got to start playing Magic after he grew out of Pokemon, and several others who just sold all their Claydols and other good cards.
:Eegees. Richard Chobomelon always looks forward to Tucson tournaments for Eegees dunch breaks.
