Tzps at Regionals

Hey everyone, Ok i have realized that everyone is freaking out about Tzps and how it might be the BDIF and a lot of decks will be Tzps this regionals. my question is is that how many people do you think will really be running it. I know of TWO People running it in my entire state and i have heard lots of other states with low tzps counts as well. So i was just wondering if i should increase my basics to like 12 or just keep my nine that i run in fear of donks? Thanks.

Test, test, test, and then test again. ZPST isn't the only deck that can donk, for what it's worth.

Regionals is a different meta than just your state. I know that at last year's Regionals, I expected nearly 0 Gyarados players, and ended up matched up against Gyarados three out of seven games. If you find that a 9 basic build is what works best after testing against multiple decks; stick with it.

There are a lot of Illinois players running ZPST. Frankly, though, I think it's a heck of a lot worse than people are making it out to be. It's heavily played in a lot of areas, meaning it's won a lot of tournaments, but I think that the ratio of [people who win with MegaZone]:[people who play MegaZone] is probably much higher than the ratio of [people who win with ZPST]:[people who play ZPST].

Every build I've played against has been inconsistent and hasn't had the super strong earlygame people seem to assume the deck has. I don't think it's an especially good choice.

You can't rely on what you think the metagame is. You have to be prepared for anything at tournaments as big as Regionals.

Increasing your basic count won't help. This may sound INSANE, but not all ZPSTs donk frequently. Try making your list as consistent as possible, that'll usually do the trick.

I believe one person of interest plays it in the entire state of Texas. We generally don't seem to like it or think it's hot stuff.

One senior in the DFW area can't be wrong. I don't think it will be run nearly as much as it's currently predicted to be either.

We had two masters here in Houston running it. I don't think it's going to see that much play. Then again, Texas has a weird meta allot of the time.

Just stall it, with Reshiram, whatever. You'll be fine...

That works in theory, but most ZPST lists run 4 Pokemon Catcher and 4 Junk Arm. Stalling out ZPST probably won't work most of the time.

If your meta is loaded with ZPST, I think the answer is to play a Reshiphlosion list that's capable of setting up very quickly. That means you would play more copies of cards like Sage's Training or Juniper so that you can search through more of your deck at a faster pace. Playing a copy or two of Twins might also not be a bad idea, as it allows you to immediately get the Rare Candy and Typhlosion after receiving a knockout (assuming you have a Cyndaquil on your bench).
